Okay I admit it....Khans Arrogance Came out on Ringside....

Ive defended him on here so many times....it was great to see the fire burning in Amir during the close ups on his face. He is a warrior to the core....but there is a terrible denial in him which came out as arrogance on ringside.....Khan cannot fight on the inside at all!! His claims that Peterson was coming in with his head and he had to push him away is a joke.....Peterson was clean, its just Khan cant take the heat inside, he elbowed lamont away too. I agree he should have had 2 knockdowns in the first round, but he lacked class claiming he won.How about doing a Honeyghan after Vaca sayin "yeah i felt i lost" and than come back 3 months later and kayo him with one punch. Khan urgently needs to learn how to fight on the inside and stationary, hold his ground....otherwise i shudder to think what a Chavez snr or mayweather would have done to him
KHan lost the fight clearly, and his reaction to the poll result was childish. Its been a week he needs to be a little more proffesional. Hes had a hard time from certain elements but he needs to do more for his UK fans too, and perhaps lighten up a bit

"Tomato" Khan gave one of the most sour, graceless, post fight interviews I've ever heard. I've gone right off the guy. By contrast, Peterson didn't even complain about Khan's constant, blatant pushing. He was a class act and I'm glad he took the titles.

I initially thought that Khan's speed and in-out style was enough to beat most opponents and that only bangers would give him problems if they caught him. I still feel that his style will be effective against those opponents that fight on the back foot or are not aggresive on the front foot, but having read a lot of posts on the subject, i have to agree and say that Khan suffers dreadfully because he can't fight on the inside. Fighters who fight on the front foot and know how to cut off the ring will have a good chance of beating Khan and he should acknowledge the fact and work on improving or his inside game. Khan had a poor display last week because he was inconsistent through-out the fight, but he still would have got the decision had in not been for those two point deductions, something which iv'e hardly seen and was a little harsh. However, after thinking about it, i have to agree with the other posters and say that his lack of an inside strategy will cost him dear when he moves up in quality.

I agree.
The thing is... Peterson isn't really a natural inside/pressure fighter, he/his corner seemed to realise that they'd never beat Khan in a month of Sundays on the outside and switched tactics to win the fight.
Khan to me lacks a ''get there you f**ker'' punch, the sort that a Froch or a Kessler possess, whilst it might knock somebody out it'll make them think twice about bumrushing in, something that Khan does too often himself.
The only thing he seems to have eliminated is his tendency to want to bang his way out of trouble.

Khan lost the fight clearly? reaaally...i think the majority of boxing press and unbiased fans would say Khan won a close but clear decision.
Show me a fighter who accepts a loss like that and i'll show you a loser and why does Khan need to do more for his fans compared to say Froch or another british boxer? If Froch loses tomorrow and it's in any way close he'll be moaning for the next 10 years about it being a robbery and coming out with conspiracy theories. Hell i even remember Lennox Lewis saying he was counted out too fast against Rahman when it was clear he was totally gone.
I would say though that maybe Khan should be taking a long hard look at his promotional team Goldenboy for agreeing to a Ref who had a close relationship to Peterson having done around 15 of his fights in Washington and was obviously going to be biased towards Peterson.

The boxing press over here generally don't know shit though, do they?
It was a close fight, I had Peterson ahead by a couple, if Khan had got it I'd have had a moan but not gone mad.
I'm not sure Golden Girl are to blame for the officials, if Khan could fight inside he'd have probably won relatively easily.

Most people just ask for a rematch though, not trying to be judge, jury and executioner.

the words press and unbiased do not belong in the same sentence and...have you not been reading this forum this past week, looking at the polls etc?

Well, I agree with you there.
Khan's PR couldn't really be much worse tbh. His team are rank amateurs, I'm on record as saying that I think he's a nice kid, a bit dim/naive granted. The problem is, people around him are supposed to be acting in his best interests, but mouthing off on twitter, accusing opponents of wanting too much money or being scared etc etc..... whilst probably drawing a nice salary courtesy of Amir getting punched in the head - it's not hard to dislike them.
He would be better just sacking them all and then just acting normally, at the minute he tries too hard to be correct and probably makes gaffes as a result.
Whether that's saying nothing or talking smack and calling them all bums.... I'm not sure, but it couldn't get much worse.

It's not so much the reaction to the loss itself that I find so annoying. It's his denial about his fouling. If the referee warns you about something that's against the rules, do you really think you can keep blatantly doing it and expect not to have points docked? His insistence on portraying himself as the "cleaner fighter" was an insult to Peterson and to all those knowledgeable fans who saw what really happened in the fight.

On stage at the British comedy awards khan was asked did he push and he said "once" is he trying to break into comedy?

I sincerely think he's been pumped with "greatness" from all the back slappers around him so badly, that the fact he's been defeated is stuttering his brain.
"Firstly it was a cracking fight" said Khan "I really thought I did enough as champion, but at the end of the day it didn't go my way and I really had a problem with the overly fussy referee. If it was in Bolton I'd have won and that's the way it sometimes goes. But as long as everyone had a blast watching it, that's the main thing. Let's get the rematch done and I'll put this matter to bed in style." - would have been more fitting.

The Dark Destroyer wrote:Why are people so offended by Khan's response to the loss? It isn't exactly new is it that a fighter who loses a close fight claims a robbery/home town decision etc.
Exactly.
It was a close bout, either way would have been fair. Fact is had Khan not been deducted points, he would have won.
I'm not say the points should not have been deducted, but every boxer will protest any form of penalizing against them. It's a typical Human reaction.
But if it's Khan, he is somehow "arrogant".
I mean to Glen Johnson maintains he did enough to beat Froch. Most people know better. Nobody called Johnson arrogant
But had that been Khan, guys like Gomez would have suffer a fit.

Really like this post, exactly what I was thinking, couldnt have put it better. I still thought it was a good fight really wish Khan had taken it more gracefully. The better man won on the night. The deductions were justified because he was continuously breaking the rules.Cutting off the ring & fighting at close quarters is permitted! What did he expect from Peterson & what was he doing in preperation? Think they took the opponent way too lightly.

No what i said was Peterson won a close but clear decison given the points deductions and non knockdown score.
How about you provide some sources for your view that "the majority of unbiased persons and the majority of the boxing press polls think he won"?
All the polls ive seen most felt he lost by a couple rounds
Ive already shown you a fighter who lost like that and just came back and did the job in the ring...llloyd honeyghan against Vaca...so he was a loser to you was he?
And who said he needs to do more for his british fans compared to froch.. froch has nothing to do with it...im talking about amir khan.
You just sem a pointless cheerleader. Ive been the sane voicew defencing khan for so long on here against some of the racist elements, but even i was appalled by his lack of class in this loss.
What made it more embarrasing was how before the fight he felt the need to talk up peterson as if it was going to be an easy night...i knew it wasnt.
Khan needs to lighten up and try one more time to build bridges with the hardcore british fans....regardless of the prejudices of some of them...he needs to look at their dollar...cavorting with jordan isnt the way to stay mainstream
