29th Febuary in Tassie.
Daniel Geale is defending his title against Osumanu Adama
Billy Dib is also defending his title against a Mexican Opponent.
Kali Meehan fights for the IBF PanPacific Belt against Kertson Manswell 22-3
Also some good undercard fights.

On paper this is a good card.
Daniel's opponent: Osumanu Adama is no slouch and this will be a hard contest for the local lad.
With a Mexican mooted for The Dibster, this will ensure some rounds are in store, unlike the Dibster's last opponent who pulled a heart muscle inside 1 round.
Kali's bout against Kertson Manswell is for the intriguely named "IBF Pan Pacific Heavy Weight" title. With Kertson residing in Trinidad and Tobago. thats an ocean too far, even via the Panama Canal. Well whats in a name anyway, in this alphabet soup of clayton's titles, as long as we get a good stoush.

It will be
http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer, he's just won the IBF eliminater and Dibs mandatory is on the 29th of January 2012.
I can't see any other Mexican ranked that high in the IBF, so by process of elimination, i give you Dib vs Escobedo.

Kerston Manswell has a win over Corey Sanders, 'so it shouldn't be a horrible matchup.
loks like another very good card by Grange.

T-Rex was on a losing streak and hadn't fought for 2+ years, so not sure why that win impresses you.
You aren't confusing him with Corrie Sanders are you?
Anyway, Manswell looked pretty limited in Prize Fighter. Big, strong fellow, but not much skill.

Pretty sure Salido is WBO champion mate, not a fight for Billy just yet.

I'm pretty sure it will be Escobedo and would be surprised if it isn't. The IBF are pretty fair since there scandal in the 90's were exposed.

Dib hasn't confirmed whether he will be fighting on the card yet. Management still considering options.

Salido is a previous IBF Featherweight Champion, winning it from Cruz and losing it to Gamboa in a unification fight. why wouldn't he want another crack?

I'm sure Salido would want a crack! i personally think Dib needs a couple more step up fights before facing that nightmare. He will have to fight his mandatory before that date and his mandatory is Escobedo.

Manswell will stand toe to toe with Kali and provide him with a war, if he wants it. Manswell has a big ticker and despite not being the most skilled boxer in the world, has a good right hand. It'll be interesting to see if Kali will stand and trade. Both of these guys know each other really well as they were both Don King fighters and sparred loads in King's camp. On top of that, as you said, it keeps Meehan active and he needs fights.

he needs meaningful fights that help get a title shot or a good payday imo.
this fight does barely either by the looks of it.
why would kali want a war? he wants to beat the guy without getting banged up himself. if it were vs a klit, then it would be worth going through hell to win. but not vs this guy.
he needs to do interviews and call out these other contenders or the klits. cause it seems everybody else is getting a title shot, or a good meaningful fight vs a ranked fighter.

When did Trinidad and Tobago get moved from the Atlantic to the Pacific?

he did get a fight vs a contender, remember, with chagaev. I think the ship has sailed for Kali. Nice guy and decent fighter but the only reason he'd get a fight with either klitschko is because soon there will be no one else left. I dont think it would be pretty either

Yeah, his time has passed but as you saw with the Kirby fight he's still a level above the other heavies here... Alex might have something to say about that but I'm not sure...

now that would be a good fight

vs chagaev was first up after 2 years of no fights. he didn't get warm until round 8. and he held his own, even hurt ruslan a couple of times. chagaev admitted so.
i believe he wins that fight now with a couple of fights under his belt, even if it hasn't exactly been a fight every month since.
he has been in few hard fights, so he's not a war torn 41yo.
considering the other contenders, i am yet to see any of them that kali wouldn't have a 50/50 chance against tbh.
i don't think chisora would last 4 rounds vs kali, and he seems to be one of the top contenders, and is getting a title shot ffs.

Kali went closer than that in 2004 when he fought Lamont Brewster for the WBO title. He was 114-113 113-114 113-115. If the second judge had gone for Meehan in one more round he would have been champ. Meehan knocked Brewster down in the 8th round and broke his jaw.
