This is a very bold statement, and in no way am I putting pressure on him as I'm pretty sure he won't ever read this (and even if he did he wouldn't care IMO), I believe he can capture gold at London 2012, be one of the Olympian heroes and then go on to be a very successful pro, please don't start comparing him to Audley Harrison, I've seen enough already to realise his potential is on another level to Harrison.
Is anyone else as excited about this guy as me ?

He did very well in the Worlds a silver was above expectations, but it means that the other boxers will know what they have to improve to try and beat him when it gets to the Olympics.

Its so hard to win a gold, he's in with a shout. And i expect him to medal.

Like what?

The amateurs are very different from the pros; some guys look like absolute beasts in the amateurs but end up being much worse as professionals. Joshua certainly has potential, but I think it's too early to be making such bold predictions.

audley harrison was one of the best aba super heavyweight boxers ever fact. He was a different level to everybody at the 2000 olympics and won with ease. All because he did not live up to is potential as a pro dont take away what he done before he was a pro. I really rate joshua and think he as a big future but for me bronze would be the aim anything after that would be extra he is young enough to go again.

Great Prospect, nice Lad too. One to watch.

I'm not saying Harrison was a bad amateur, he was obviously one of the best, but it was obvious to me he was never going to make it as a pro from day one, it was the audley Harrison show what consisted of making money and that was it, nothing has changed and his lack of heart and grit is easy for everyone to see, however I have already noticed joshua is a completly diffrent person just from seeing him train to seeing him interviewed, his not going to let anyone down including himself, watch and see.

There are still a few hurdles.

After qualification, he needs to stay on weight and injury free. At the event itself the biggest factor is the draw, and then actually performing on the day.

Agreed a bit of luck never hurts, and no one said it would be easy, but I just have a good feeling about this kid

people forget what a class am audley actually was.

Its amazing how with hindsight every single boxing fan "knew" he'd never make it in the pros.

I never wrote him off completely and only a fool would of, but after two years as a pro it was becoming clearer to see he was all hype, I can see the same with degale too, and I never will forget what a good amateur Audley was, although a good friend of mine stuart saint john ( former heavy aba champ )knocked him spark out in sparring !
