Evening readers I'm gathering fans questions through out January that you would like to ask the BBBofC, we can ask difficult questions be assured, whether they get answered or not is another thing. But it was good of the BBBofC to agree and give the fans a chance to add there questions. It's a big opportunity for the fans lets not ruin it with daft questions guys.

A) Why do they choose to only allow UK fighters to fight for certain world titles. Isn't that limiting the chances of our home fighters to achieve their dreams? E.g. Dodson WBF being rejected?

B)Why nominate fights to have opponents pull out consistently and not do something about it. Like Adnan Amar?

c) is there a minimum fee that british champion must command

D) whats their take on the british masters and international masters title

Good luck with that. We interviewed Robert Smith fairly recently and he didn't deal with any of the issues we asked about, so much so that the piece just wasn't worth running. Just so's you know what to expect

Glyn you have any idea why they are selective with which titles our fighters are allowed to fight for

In one leforge. Very hard to deal with that kind of mentality. They just don't seem to get it.

I contacted the board last week seeking information on something I am working on (non-controversial, mind) and I got a very helpful response and follow up email.

I have a question to add.

Looking forward, what areas does the Board think that they can improve on for the betterment of British Boxing?

They a bit like the BDO in darts don't think anything needs to change.

Ask them when Refs and judges make poor decisions (and there has been a few recently) Why they dont get fined or suspended or there licence taken away
Like if a boxer doesnt have 2 pairs of shorts or 2 gumshields or they forget there laminnate they get fined ? and sometimes suspended or there licence taken away for having a opinion And why licence holders who pay the fee,s to the board Dont get to vote at the AGM cheers JC

why is there an monoply with the top 8 "star refs"

they get every big fight in the uk even after some shocking performances , there should be a "relegation and promotion2 of refs as this keeps them on thier toes and it helps the other refs get the bigger fights

These are the questions I'd love to ask, but I'm guessing, from the earlier posts in this thread that they may be a little awkward. They are not intended to be. I believe the Board to be a very able and competent body, dealing in a sport riven with cliques and self interest. I'd like to see the Board operate with more power, alongside more accountability and more transparency. Gone are the days where secretive decisions could be made in smoke filled rooms. We live in an information age, so the views of the public become increasingly vocal and decisions and judgements can not simply be swept under the carpet.

1 - Do you consider the governance that the BBBC provides for professional boxing in the UK to be adequate? Have any benchmarking reviews (eg, against other sports governing bodies) been carried out and what were the findings?

2 - Given the explosion in social media and supporter engagement, what plans does the Board have to "move with the times"?

3 - Do you feel that the Board is sufficiently transparent? There have been a number of examples in recent months of questionable decisions and scoring but limited response from the Board, at least in public. Do you appreciate that the perception of the Board as "thumb-twiddlers" could be addressed without needing to support fan-based witchhunts?

4 - How rigorous is the drug testing regime in this country? Leading cyclist Mark Cavendish recently declared that he had been tested over 60 times in 2011, yet he is not in a sport where a physical advantage can lead directly to an opponents injury. How many random drug tests were carried out in 2011?

5 - What investigations were carried out into the Burns v Cook farce and the associated betting rumours? If there was no investigation, why not?

6 - What mechanisms does the Board have in place to ensure compliance with statutory legislation? The new Bribery Act has recently come in to force - how does the Board ensure that all Promotions under its licence are compliant?

7 - How often do you conduct 2-way engagement with key stakeholders - promoters, managers, boxers, medical staff, officials, fans?

8 - Do you believe that a Boxers Union is required for the sport? There is currently no independent body to protect the interests of fighters both during and after their careers. In other sports, unions have supported their participants through issues such as non-payment, drugs, drink and gambling addictions, stress and depression - these are all issues that have publicly affected boxers in the UK - what support systems are currently in place?

My question will be :

1. When given the chance to answer genuine questions from fight fans, do you duck the issue raised, evade the question and pretend that a problem doesn't exist in the first place ?????

Good luck with your interview mate but as someone has already said, they will only answer what they want to and will give bland assurances that they will look into issues at a later date.

Hope Andy had better luck than us and that the new interview works out as well. I can't really explain what happened, I wasn't there, but Smith actually asked us for the interview and then didn't deal with what was asked. Oh well.

Glyn I don't respect many journo's in our sport...but your lot are amongst the few I do respect...problem is like ringnews24 (a site I do ...sometimes..write for) ...you know perfectly well if someone doesn't want something public...you can't really make it public. It's the annoying thing that many in this sport aren't willing to rock the apple cart

For sure. Must admit I'm still irritated by the Smith episode, waste of time. Very few people actually ask to be interviewed, maybe that should have flagged it up for me early on as something 'odd'. But I didn't spot it at the time and what resulted was essentially a board press release that BM was supposed to spend money on (writer's fee, time spent preparing for press). No chance. You expect a certain degree of that in any interview situation, but you normally get something in return, that's the deal as a rule. Didn't happen though.

Didn't run it leforge, the whole exercise was a total waste of time

Ask the board the following question.

1)Why does the board not have some sort of official ranking system in each division to work towards the British title. It would help transparency and would do away with the old fashioned "nominations" which to the casual fan seem to be plucked out of the air.
