is it me or should we just bang these promoters heads together

theres a great domestic match up out there joe calzaghe vs howard eastman on the bbc peak time for the wbo world super middleweight title.

why can't this match be made

allegedly keeps going on about eastman not being good enuff :x oh yeah and like this armenian roadsweeper he's fighting in a couple of weeks is

we demand a domestic superfight is not flushed down the toilet and for once can we get together for the good of boxing in this country and lets make a big match up.

all this nonsense about there not big enuff names and it won't draw the numbers. i'm sure if its plugged enuff it'll get the interest going and a big tv audience.

help save our sport and make this match up, we will be forever grateful and i will never ever have a bad word to say about allegedly ever again, over and out.

it shows on eastman fight that Eastman cant fight south paws

Calzaghe is a very fast south paw, Calzaghe would stop Eastman

yeah but calzaghe isn't a track runner he's a southaw but not a moving flighty southpaw like that guy on saturday was.

he's like a kenwood chef in other words a good mixer so eastman would be able to fight him and i think that would make for a close fight

however i agree calzaghe wins it

but my point is can we just c the bloody fight to find out

Why couldn't they come to some sort of agreement. Remember Woodhall vs Calzaghe shown live on Sky, on delay on the BBC. Why can't they do that.

I don't see why Eastman should feel obliged to move up, he's obviously comfortable at the weight, and Calzaghe is big at super middle, so it would seem to me that all the aces would be with Calzaghe.

I think Eastman would take it for the shot.... Id side with Calzaghe but wouldn't write off Eastman

The question I always ask is where would Eastman succeed where Charles Brewer failed?

Answer: he would not.

Eastman isn't a big middleweight, he reminds me of hopkins, tall, rangy and slightly lanky, strong, but not a naturally big man who has to boil down to make weight.

I cannot see him weighing in at more than 165, he doesn't look to be the type who would put on muscle tissue easily.

Why is Calzaghe facing Mger Mkrtchian

when he should be facing this guy?

Good point James, Howard is a strong, big middleweight but I don't think he would benefit from stepping up. he walks around just over the natural middleweight limit so why give up advantages. If he met Calzaghe at catchweight (half way between middle and super middle limits ) I would give him the edge because Calzaghe struggles with the weight.

All this makes you believe just how amazing it was if Hopkins was ever contemplating moving up in weight to challenge maes Toney towards the back end of last year.

At catchweight, Calzaghe would be dead at the weight, which is why it would never happen.

If Hopkins had gotten in the ring with Toney, Toney would have opened up an enormous can of whoop-ass on him, which is why it never happened.

Look how he picked the wings off of a toughnut like Holy, and though Hopkins has a hell of a lot more left in the tank, he wouldn't have lived with the Toney who took Jirov to pieces either.

The trashtalking beforehand would have been brilliant, Two true old school tough guys!!!

Yeah, it's a shame it never happened, got that would have been a great buildup. Inevitably though, Toney would just have been too strong for Hopkins, he's as good technically, and hits harder, and is I think even smarter than Nard in the ring.

That still doesn't explain why Calzaghe is fighting Mr. Unpronounceable, all while blathering that he has no challenges left at supermiddle. Talk is cheap, Joe.
