Get your brains into gear and gives us your boxing related nugget of information that maybe isn't so well known to others. It can be anything you want but just try and keep it fairly interesting. Obviously some people will say stuff that some people already know so try and keep it fairly uncommon, nothing too obvious like saying Marciano retired unbeaten !!!
As a starter, and an example of things to put, here are some things to get it rolling...
(1) Duran was ahead on two judges scorecards after 12 rounds vs. Hagler.
(2) The first judges used in America was for the Ted Kid Lewis vs. Jack Britton fight in 1915 (Lewis WUD 12)
(3) The quickest title fight in history was Gerald McClennon vs Jay Bell (20 seconds)
(4) Pete Rademacher fought for the world title against Floyd Patterson in his pro debut
I'm sure there are far more interesting stats or info so lets hear them.

In line with my comments on another thread, When Jack Dempsey fought The Fighting Marine "Gene Tunney" for the world title. It actually was the second time that a Jack Dempsey had fought a "fighting Marine" for the world title. the other was The Non pareil Jack Dempsey vs the fighting marine George leblanche.

Found this article quite a while ago, it's titled "Where Dempsey Might be Helpless", there is an edge of hysteria to it that i actually find a little funny. Not sure about the truth behind the stories but interesting article none the less.

Joe Louis made 25 successful defenses of his heavyweight title. During that time, there were a total of 2 successful middleweight title defenses.

Tyson vs Snipes
"One night after (Mike Tyson's girlfriend) Hope had visited MT (Mike Tyson) in his LA apartment, he told me to follow her. She had left earlier than usual, telling him that she had to visit a friend. He wanted me to find out where she went, if she made any calls, if she talked to anybody, everything that she did after leaving him that night. So I grabbed the black Lamborghini Diablo and kept a safe distance ... At Roscoes, a soulfood hangout in downtown LA, she parked, got out of the car and walked over to a black Lexus ... her friend turned out to be actor Wesley Snipes.
"(Tyson) was paging me. I called him back to let him know the situation ... Less than ten minutes later, he pulled up in a yellow Testarosa, accompanied by a new bodyguard Anthony Pitts. Anthony was a former professional football player, stood about 6'7, and weighed in around 250. Tyson jumped out of the Ferrari.
"...When Hope caught sight of him, she practically fell out of Snipes lap and onto the floor. The actor froze then waved a hand"'Now, Mike, now, Mike, we can do this together. I dont want no problem.
"'Let's go into the bathroom!' Tyson snapped.
"When I returned from the parking lot, I noticed Anthony was blocking the bathroom door. A couple minutes later we heard a big noise inside, and then Tyson emerged alone.
"After he was gone, I cracked open the bathroom door. Wesley Snipes was sitting against the far wall, head tilted to one side, unconscious (italics mine)."

When did the Tyson story happen?
Mike beats up an actor whilst his giant bodyguard holds the door. That's awful.

Journeyman Buck Smith, who fought between '87 to '09, welter to middle, has 120 ko victories.
Jorge Paez and Calvin Grove fought the last 15 round championship fight in August 1988. Sad day.
Journeyman Buck Smith, who fought between '87 to '09, welter to middle, fought Harold Brazier in a 15 round fight in August 1990.

I cant remember when it was exactly was and for which fight,
but in a television commercial for a pay-per view fight
featuring Donavan"Razor"Ruddock, one of the tag lines voice overs
had said, that Razor Ruddock was responsible for breaking more
bones(presumably against his opponents)then any other heavyweight
fighter.Im not sure how the record was tabulated.
The commercialcould have been for his fight against Tommy Morrison.

If you read Rudy Gonzalez's book he goes into detail about an all-out brawl that occurred in Don King's office back when they were negotiating for the second Razor Ruddock fight. Tyson apparently snapped and one punch KO'd Ruddock right in the office then chased King around the building threatening to kill him. It made for a hilarious read.

My guess would be it may have happened around the Spring of 1991?
because I dont think anyone would really know who Wesley Snipes was
before NEW JACK CITY which as released by then.
Also it would be interesting to see some movies of Wesley Snipes and compare his
forehead pre-1991,and post 1991.
To see if Tyson left a permentent indentation in it with his ring,
like he did to Mitch Green's lower forehead between the eyes.

OK this is just a weird fact about an upcoming bout, both Pablo Farias and Arthur Abraham suffered their first losses...due to DQ's after landing concussive cheap shots. The coincidences don't stop there however, as both men had also suffered their first career knock down in their bouts!

That is nothing but a myth Scallum, Leonard would have owned Pryor. He was commentating when Pryor made himself a big name.
Charley Burley fought Holman Williams & Ezzard Charles inside of a week.
