I keep on hearing that his Facebook page says he has quit the sport after a long a successful career??

I see he is still ranked as active by Boxrec? Does anyone know what the score is??

Will be a sad day when Napa is taken out of the rankings...the man has been a class act

Yeah was talking to his old trainer Brian Lawance the other day and he said he called it a day.....

I think his promoter should put a statement out in his honour.

Always enjoyed watching Napa fight, his record doesn't do him justice. He has won a Lonsdale belt outright and an EBU title, both of which are no mean feats. He had one of the best defenses in boxing which made up for the fact that he was always at a disadvantage due to his size. Watching him fight Hall and McDonnell was like watching a heavyweight boxing a middleweight. I actually didn't realise he fought Martin Ward in July but it was obviously one defeat too many. Wish him the best of luck with whatever he decide to do next.

Brill. Sublime. Shame he didn't have a bit more power he might have gone a lot further.

I agree Jeff. His lack of power made it struggle to make it to the next level.

could of gone to world level had he had more discipline and punch power still accomplished a great deal think hed make a good coach with his style

I don't think Napa fought that often at Super Bantamweight, mate, but I get your point. Napa retiring is a loss to your domestic scene in general.

That would put him seventh in the rankings and very close to a fight with Quigg or the Jackal.

Did you see the Reid fight?, pure class. Totally unrecognizable fighter from two years ago...

If he achieves half of what Napa did then we will all be happy

I understand that mate, don't worry. His best years were at the lower weights and he only recently moved to SB It does bump the likes of Walsh, Economides up a place though...

I didnt see the last one but did see him in the Chester Show, He has improved so much - will be good to see where he goes in 2012.

Good show that was....top quality. He was even better against Reid. This could be an incredible year

If you take Quigg and Frampton out of the equation as they will probably move past domestic level in the next 12-24 months, the Super Bantam division will be very open and competitive with the likes of Ward, Walsh, Economides, Turley and possibly Stuey Hall all hanging around for the domestic honours.

Napa had a very mixed record though didn't he, i doubt he would have gone any higher than domestic level. It's interesting to note that he never knocked out or stopped anybody in his career, always winning by points. Just checked his record on Boxrec and he had one or possibly two fights where people retired through injury, though conversly he only got stopped once himself through out his career, the rest he lost on points decisions.

Sorry, i must have missed his Euro victory on Boxrec. You can see clearly by his record that he didn't carry a punch. Never saw many of Napa's fights, so i will take your word for how good he could have been

Ian's one of boxing's good guys

to me ian napa was one of my favourite domestic class fighters, he suffered from a lack of stamina early in his career but suffered from a lack of punch power throughout his career...they are the only negatives.... Ian Napa was a class act, his rolling and ducking and defence behind the raised shoulder were as good as anyones, he was a bit like a james toney mini-me, adrian stone was the only other british gighter who i think mastered this technique in the last 20 years.

shame to see you go ian, you can look back with pride, hope you can manage to post on here as you have/had a lot of admirers.

rumour has it you are also very well hung...... .... i remember a poster saying his wife commented on it once, was it on this forum. always nice to chat to someone who is also well hung... :P
