I'm going Zapata by razor thin SD, Yuh would be the aggressor and that plays into Hilario's strength's.
Carbajal/Chang is an incredibly difficult fight to call, I think Jung-Koo might out-work him to a close dec

Another toss-up, I'm going with Yoko over Chang on the basis of superior power catching the judges eye in a barn burner that could go either way.

I'll take Gonzalez by come from behind KO over Zapata. Hilario was incredibly skilled, but Humberto's only real weakness was his chin and Zapata couldn't dent that and eventually I think he succumbs to Gonzalez pressure.

Gushiken vs Gonzalez is two well rounded fighters that can box or slug with equal efficiency. But it comes down to Humberto's whiskers for me and I think Gushiken would crack his chin around the eighth round of an absolute war.

Didn't sseveral of Gushiken's opponents claim they were poisoned?
I'd favor Chang to win the tournament, but I'll give my picks for each stage in another post.

Chang over Gonzalez. (The Chang that fought Gonzalez was far past it, as can be seen even in Ohashi II. He then retired and came back when his wife ran off to the U.S.)

Only disagreement I'd have is i would pick Yuh by SD over Zapata in a one-or two-point point fight. I think Yuh's aggression would barely be enough to outpoint Zapata, possibly with a late knockdown. Other than that, I think you have it pegged and i would pick Chang over anyone at lt. Fly

I think Saad had it right, i think a straight-up orthodox boxer without a punch is made to measure for Zapata

Probably see Gonzalez close over Yuh, but not by more than a point or two. This tournament would have a lot of really close fights, IMO. Great matchups

Agreed. Location might be crucial here (Panama, Mexico, U.S., Korea, Japan).

i think Gonzalez would have a considerable advantage on the inside, where Yuh was fairly hittable and didn't have the greatest punch variety or power, and Chiquito would be able to get inside consistently enough to pepper him with combinations
