As expected Brook is fighting Hatton on 17th of March. Darren Barker will be chief support for the fight too

Hatton will be durable but won't give kell to much trouble, who's barker fighting ?

i wonder if any american tv company will pick this fight up as both have recently fought on american tv??

Interesting to see that ricky is now taking a different philosophy to matchmaking now that he is no longer fighting.

Although to be fair "Magic" has improved a lot in the last couple of years, I see Brook causing some real damage here.

The Brook haters will continue to hate after this fight. ITs one i see him winning easily but the haters will say Hatton is rubbish. Good fight for me, see who the best in Britain is before the winner probably moves on for some form of world title shot

You're spot on, Josh.

Hatton has improved a lot and might have patches of success which will, of course, mean Brook has been 'exposed'.

If Brook is dominant, Hatton will be 'rubbish' which isn't true either.

Unless it's one of those overwhelmed/outclassed stoppages, I can't see Kell halting him.

Matty Hatton is the 'White N'dou'.

It's another good test for Kell, I really hope that Hatton takes him the distance, if he doesn't the hype will be nauseating.

The Kell Brook fangirls are probably the most annoying in boxing, even worse than Flomos.

I agree. I think a lot of the Brook hate comes from people who (quite rightly) think it's ridiculous when his fans mention his name in the same sentence as Khan's, especially seeing as Brook hasn't fought anyone yet.

This will be a good step up for him though, I just hope it's competitive. I can see Kell winning via late stoppage.

I think this sums it up perfectly. I personally think it will be a great scrap and a great test

A bit like with Jennings, I cannot really see a way in which Matthew Hatton can win this fight. Might cause Brook to think for a few rounds but just can only see Brook winning. Points or a cuts stoppage win.

Pleasantly surprised with the match up though. I really thought Matthew would be going the international route and getting some kind of interim (or vacant) world title fight. It seems like he is the one with more to lose in the current position.

I was a non-believer when he was blowing away the likes of Kotey and we were having to listen to Allegedly demanding Pac vacate the WBO title to allow Kell to have a crack.

Obviously the win over an admittedly faded N'Dou was a huge step in the right direction, and I don't have any arguments with this matchup. He needs rounds, against men that won't just fall over.

It's a big opportunity for Hatton too, to establish himself as the #1 domestically and probably get something off the back of it. I do think Kell wins a wide decision, but he'll be made to work hard for it.

Brook wins well but it's a good match up because Hatton won't take a backward step and he'll certainly ask questions of Kell.
At this stage I think it's the best fight that could have been made. Nothing would have been gained from feeding him another faceless journeyman with a 'winning record'.

it's definitely a step in the right direction, haven't been blown away by Brook as of yet but not doubting his ability. A really convincing win, maybe ko over hatton and i'd say it'll be a bauble fight next

Hatton has absouloutley no power to trouble Brook but is pretty durable

if Brook stops him then it looks good after Hatton surviving against the bigger canelo

I think this is the obvious, logical fight for Brook. A decent seller, completes British business and involves a name the Americans know and appreciate for toughness.

I'm surprised at the dissenters, Hatton would match or beat all the people Brook has fought to date.

Why rush Brook into a dangerous American fight before taking this seller and adding a touch more to his resume.

Sensible matchmaking for Brook and not without potential for Hatton either.

You are correct, I'm trying to think has there been a British fighter in the last 20 years who has made the most of his natural ability as Matthew. I'm mean in terms of natural speed, power etc.

That is not meant as a negative comment or post.... the polar opposite infact. I take my hat off to Matthew for getting to geniune EBU level with his limited natural athletic ability, tremendous heart and he works his limitations well.

Only fighter I can think of in a similar mold is Barry Jones - got a world title win despite appear to be limited in natural ability.

What's your take on having this fight in an Arena ?
I know Matt will have a decent following, but does anyone really think we're going to have a 3000 plus gate for this ?
Don't get me wrong, wouldn't miss it for the World, but these arenas can be souless places if there are big gaps in the crowd.
When full - billiant.The Full Monty show here was one of my favs on UK soil.
A great couple of weeks for Sheffield boxing though.
Rhodes the week after - with Towers, Etches and Jenkins on the bill.

That's an interesting and amusing way of describing Hatton. He is a tough lad alright. Alvarez was landing flush for 12 rounds and Hatton didn't flinch.

That doesn't surprise me mate because that will be the die hards.
I genuinely hope I'm wrong, but I don't think the bill as we know it is strong enough to sell an Arena out.

They could've done with people like Rhodes, Towers (ticket sellers that part of the country) on the bill.

If Brook halts Hatton just remember Alvarez could've even do that up at LM.

Good name for Brook to have on the record, interest in Matthew is at probably 1 of the highest of his career after his world title shot.
