I think it's just PR, easy for FW to say he'd take a fight with Froch in a heartbeat when Froch is on the verge of singing to fight Bute twice this year!

I do remain sceptical about the prospect of Froch vs Bute 2 happening before Froch vs Bute 1 has taken place.

Would Bute be keen to fight Froch if he wins a tough but clear descision in a bruising fight. The public might want it again, but would Bute? I can see Bute rightfully saying....good fight, but I proved I was the better man - now give me Ward.

If Bute wins decisevely, would the public want to see Froch in a title back on the back of two convincing back to back defeats?

If Bute loses or its controvesial either way.... then I can see a 2nd match happening immediately. The sceptic in me would be going in over drive if it was controvesial.... "oh why was it controvesial, its not because the rematch is already signed up is it"?

This has happened on a few occasions in the past, but in the end I cannot remember a single time when a rematch has happened.

Very true mate. I would have thought, though, that there will be something in the contract which dictates if the rematch goes ahead. I.e if Bute loses, or the bought was close enough to warrant a rematch. If Bute wins a lopsided decision or KO then obviously the rematch would be pointless!

Yeah.... if its a gruelling, but deserving say 116-112/113 affair to Bute (e.g. like say Froch vs Pascal) then I can see Bute ignoring his deal.... Froch aint a mandatory, so cannot see him getting stripped by the IBF.

Nothing is certain in boxing but I like the idea.

I hope Froch-Bute I and II come off.

Warren talking cleverly up. Read cleverly in boxing news where he said I did not expect a big name with the tv channel budget & size of arena. But cleverly next opponent is a joke!

I read that Hearn said something like if the fight doesnt go past 6 rounds or there is a wider than 6 rounds gap if it goes to points, then a rematch will not take place. Fair enough i guess.

Cleverley has been getting publicity off of other names a lot lately. Just goes to show how fraudulent his "world title" is.

I think Froch will expose Nathan a bit if they fight now. Better off waiting until Froch is washed up.

Its true that Carl is in the twilight of his career - but where does he go if the Bute fights don't happen or if he loses both?

He seems quite adamant he has a few more years left in him. A Cleverly fight is an obvious match-up ...unless Froch isn't confident going against Cleverly?

I can't imagine Frotch is brimming with ambition these days, he's had a very tough couple of years and there isnt many big paydays out there for him.

Some people have sussed this out straight away, others are pretty delusional and think fights just "appear out of thin air".

You think they're going to go from £10k opponents like Karpency, to £1,000,0000+ fighters like Froch or even £2,000,000 fighter like Bernard Hopkins after the career he has forged to date ? With the financial backing of a very small subscription channel ?

I'd guess that their entire boxers wage bill for their whole stable including opposition is less per year that what they would need to procure Froch, let alone Hopkins.

If Froch vs Clev were to happen, it would only be promoted by Eddie Hearn and only on Sky. There's your first deal breaker.

Froch would want his cash there and then, so that's the nail in the coffin.

Perhaps they should put some big digits on a proposal and send it to Matchroom HQ instead of putting press releases out. I'm sure the proposal would be put on the pile with the many others that Carl Froch has other than Lucian Bute for consideration.

Froch could retire now and live comfortably. Paydays in two years time won't be an issue I imagine.

My point was purely based on the monies mentioned and that i don't believe Froch will be commanding £1,000,000 if he loses twice to Bute.

Lot of if's and Bute's isn't there mate. Bute is just one of about 4-5 options.

I actually feel sorry for loyal Clev fans in these situations. Especially as a loyal Hatton follower over the years. I ran the final version of his official website and forum before it turned into hatton.tv. We got promised this opponent and then served up that. It was just all bollocks being fed to us all the bloody while.

The Stateside adventures didn't happen until he left. Same goes for Khan. Slightly late for Joe but same thing.

Your never ever ever ever going to get a marquee name. You will get unknown stiffs and washed-up stablemates like Big Mac.
