I know this is a running theme but.......

allegedly is bloody awful.

All this week, Friday and Saturday have been listed as 'WORLD TITLE FIGHTS' without any further information. Now, on the day of the race, it seems they meant 'British Cruiserweight Title Fight' for Friday's viewing.

I'm not a subscriber but I try to keep an eye on it to see if it's edging towards being worth while.

The answer it seems is no, no it is not.

The best thing to do is save your £50 and get decent seats to a show twice a year.

I know I'm stating the obvious, but sometimes we need reminding.

Your right mate, i first subscribed coz i really wanted to watch the Cotto margarito fight, which was certainly worth the money, coz Cotto put on a complete masterclass, but since then its been a joke. Tonight is first show of the year, an do i really wanna be forking out my cash to watch sexton vs owolabanimunouelowolewetwoko. If im paying for a channel, i certainly want fights that really are of world standard alot more regular, not just small hall shows with half decent domestic fights. An im sick to death of repeats of bunce's boxing hour.

You must have more patience than me mate, when I wanted ESPN to watch the Leicester Tigers matches, I rang up Sky and said "Can I have ESPN please?" and bang, it was on. As soon as I was met with the Pay Wizard thing, I really couldn't be bothered. Like you, the Cotto fight made me want to sign up but for tonight and tomorrow's shows, Sky Sports 2 would have been fine. Sports fans with Sky, BT, Virgin etc usually have Sky Sports 1 & 2, so the idea of allegedly sticking it to the monopoly of Sky is nonsense.

Terrestrial channels need to take advantage of this anti-obesity/health drive that the country seems to be loving, particularly with the Olympics coming up as a massive sports advert.

My two boys, (6 and 4 yrs old) already know that rugby and boxing are great ways to stay fit, and to not end up as a hooligan, so maybe some school visits from sports stars need to become more common, and then the interest will force the terrestrial channels to change their tune?

Yeah, it is.

Not really anything the channel can do about it unfortunately. January is always a slow month for boxing though.
No but dont hype fights like that! Also advertising Matthews as world title!

You're right. This business venture between these two promoters only confirms what we've all been saying about this channel for months now.

For me, the best thing Sky can do is continue in the F1 direction, and have a channel dedicated to individual sports. Once this is in place, they can offer a 'Pick N' Mix' option on sports channels and then increase their subscribers. I don't have a problem with one company having a monopoly as long as they're doing a good job.

It's an idea, anyway.

It is a world title fight, technically.

The Stieglitz fight is the biggest show of the weekend, it's better they got it than if they didn't. There is nothing else happening.
The theme for this channel seems quantity over quality!

Don't forget mate, the point of the thread was that tonight was advertised as a 'World Title Fight' all week, which was naughty.

What world title fight did you think was on?
What world title fight did they think was on?

I'll be honest, I don't generally have the time to check schedules that often, but if I subscribed £120 a year for a solitary channel, I'd expect to press the 'Info' button on a Wednesday and get an accurate idea of what is being shown on Friday.

I think the OP (what ever that means) was stating an opinion based on his own experiences and did not take into account your views.

A disgraceful oversight.

I believe it means 'opening post' or you could has used 'TS'

It was pretty disgraceful butI'm sure my well thought out contribution swung the opinion of the TS and he's ready to wind it all up.

In truth I didn't know it was advertised as a world title fight. i just looked what fights were coming on and decided I wanted to pay to see them. I'm sure I'll join in with the broken promises if the fights start drying up.

Well, there was a televised bout in the states featuring two top 10 fighters last night.... could have shown that.

I'd rather they saved the money spent on barely relevant Sauerland fighters knocking over no-hopers and spent it on credible opponents for fights with Welsh World Belt Holders. Sometimes less is more.

This is one of the many reasons why a dedicated boxing channel, using a monthly subscription model, will struggle to succeed.
Aye, not enough "first run" content, not enough stars, not enough interest.

Do the people of the UK really need a dedicated boxing channel on top of SkySports and ESPN?

I wouldn't have thought so.

Last night, maguire lost "shouldn't of" Williams lost " shouldn't of. The guy from Essex in his pro debut done rounds, Larry v sexton was close and may happen again.
It was a better bill then many sky sports shows IMO. The only people jumping on the band wagon about b o x n a t I o n are the ones who don't have it.

Quality is getting better but I still dont see why they cant put Enzos scorecard on the screen after every few rounds.

I got the channel & so far I seen one good night of boxing the cotto night . Last night was not great up until the ko the fight was poor! I like the idea of showing undercard fights live but not prospect v journeyman tyoe fights where its obvious who winner is. Ali v Maguire was good fight more like that I required if they showing live.
