much as i loved the ending and it showed what is fabulous about boxing. 5 nil down in the last minute and you can still win......unlike football etc.
i think last night was shanes first and final hurrah, he is not good enough to be british champion, lets be honest. his technique is poor, chin up in the air etc etc. im not taking away his glory, i respect he took his chance and took it well, but its up there on par with michael holden winning the british heavyweight crown.
a decent cruiser will muller shane.

but in the weak british cruiserweight division shane is top 5 in britain on anyones list , in any other division a top 5 challenger winning the title would be seen as no big deal

I always thought Williams would lose in his first defence. He didnt even beat Norton.
Delighted for Shjane it meant the world to him but feel Hari miles, Matty Askin, Dickenson, Tony Conquest and even Toks Owoh would beat him.

I reckon it makes sense tp put Shanes first defence on in Nottingham , maybe at Harvey Hadden stadium and i think it would make sense if its possible to make it against Jon Ibbotson as on paper his record is good enough and Both im pretty sure are with Carl Greaves so keeps the title in his stable whichever way it goes , and i believe Shane would win that fight , suppose it all depends on Financial things fo the whole team .
Suppose same thing could also be said if Neil Dawson was made the first defence but i think thats a tougher fight than Ibbotson from the odd occasion ive seen them .

He will fight Conquest and the winner will face the winner of the eliminator between Askin/Dickinson.

I think taht also, but at that time, askin or Dickinson are very superiors to the other guys.

I know Norton is shite to watch but surely he deserves to be placed in some sort of eliminator to regain his old title that he narrowly (a lot say unfairly) lost?
That stinks that him been frozen out just because he hasn't got a TV friendly style.

My bro is not the best cruiser out there but he took the fight at 3 weeks notice on only is tenth pro fight and the most he as done is 6x2 you cant fault that he got the biggest balls in british boxing and will fight anybody. Looks like it will be conquest in march hopefully in bulwell, nottingham. Am so proud as nobody wanted a british title ore then him and nobody can take away the fact he will always be a british champ. Good on you bro.

Not the most gifted for sure but if your in it you can win it,well done to him and carl greaves who works hard in boxing.ps. Stephen Simmons will be the title holder at some point this year.

Is it merely coincidental that the BBBoC have placed two eliminators for the Cruiser title.... Askin vs Dickson (great fight) and Norton vs Hide (snow balls chance of it happening). I seems to me that giving Norton the official status of being high in the queue is the compensation for the stinking decision he received...... but, at the same time, he's going to be stuck in the queue along time - cause Hide aint fighting (I don't think).
I wonder if guys like Bob Ajisafe would contemplate moving up.

Was wonderful to see. Well done to all of you. Will be hard going against Tony Conquest who I think is potentially Commonwealth/European challenger level but no one can ever take away what Shane achieved last night

Isn't the minimum bid £5,000? Is that too much for an undercard fight?

big big contratulations to him mate and i am not knocking his achievement, maybe the issue is the poor standard of british cruiserweights at present. as billy bessey alluded to.....if you are in it you can win it!!

Lee , Fully agree with what your saying but Carl Greaves is there to look after the best Interests of shane not the best interests of the division , I dont think too many would argue with him taking a bit of an earner at home in a winnable fight first before he fights one of the main top lads in the division , Shanes a real nice guy and would be good if he can get to earn a bit while hes got the chance , the top guys will all be wanting to have a crack at him so let them fight each other to earn a shot and then fair enough he will have to fight the man who comes out on top , then again though he might have to box whoever the board say anyway so all this conversation could be irrellivant .
But if he can get out again quick to have a homecoming fight in Nottingham before anyone is made mandatory then id be quite happy for him to box someone like yourself for a run out before the mandatory defence .

You know what- as much as you can blame good fortune and other things... The history books will say Leon Willams and Shane McPhilbin 'Britsh' champions and congrats to them for that. Well done lads its a tough road get what you can.
