Bunce & Boxrec News

Sorry for yet another thread around this dispute, but I felt obliged to point out the following. Basically, a big part of Mr Bunce's diatribe against Ian was that he had no right to claim to be a credible editor of a boxing website if he didn't subscribe to allegedly personally. I felt at the time this betrayed a fundamental lack of understanding of how an editor can work and sure enough, in the wake of Friday's BN bill, the most comprehensive report I could find anywhere (in fact virtually the only report I could find anywhere!) was on Boxrec news courtesy of Ben Carey and Danny Wright... I hope the irony isn't lost on the big man...

Excellent observation mate.

Ian, I'd appreciate it if you could send me on a couple of the bottles you'll no doubt receive as thanks.

Me too...I also watched Arthur Abraham on Saturday night too 8)

Great write ups from the pair as well.

Not sure about the misplaced pride in watching British fighters on streams. Aren't you essentially stealing money from the fighters?

It's only the same as going round to someone's house to watch it!

I was going to say I often go to my local to watch fights and I don't pay anything then either

I doubt the picture quality could have been much worse than on the actual channel. THe picture on some of shows is like a flashback to old 80's programmes on itv3, gold etc

That's true when the promoter is paying the fighters.

On a thread titled something like 'Will you be subscribing to allegedly channel?' I posted 'No.'

Mr Bunce didn't like it. He's now on a self-imposed exile from the BoxRec forum because I am a 'twat' and a 'fool'.

I can't understand why he's so hot for East Side, he has his fair share of knockers over there too.

Gotcha.... thank you.

I made it through 3 pages and then figured I'd read enough (from both sides)..... 14 pages worth? No thanks

An editor doesn't need to see every fight out there, sure but you'd think being an editor of a boxing news site, contributor to BM and editor of a British boxing forum he'd be watching as many fights involving British Fighters as possible. A PPV channel dedicated to showing some of our best fighters would be top of the pile for source material you'd think even if you don't like the company behind it.
I couldn't imagine (as an example) Oliver Holt not subscribing to Sky Sports because he thought Mudoch was an arsehole, he'd have fck all too talk about. unless he catches it all on a stream that is.

If only Bunce could have put it as eloquently as you rather than resorting to abuse.

To be fair to Ian, he replied to that thread using his account as is on this forum - I think we should not assume that all posts he makes on this forum are under the guise as his position of boxrec news editor.

And surely what is good for the goose is good for the gander - A fledgling ppv channel should be falling over themselves to make sure editors of boxing publications or news sites have press credentials.

The editor makes sure the fights are covered as best they can be - there's plenty of ways of doing it without him personally subscribing or doing anything illegal.

Who is Ollver Holt anyway?
