If Price beats McDermott then he'll be Fury's British mandatory, but the cynic in me imagines one or both parties will find a way not to fight.

I think Price is smart enough to know he will beat Fury, and Fury has enough bollocks/ignorance to be convinced he'll do Price.

The promoters may get in the way of it happening, but the fighters won't.

I think Tyson Fury will fight David Price should Price defeat John McDermott at the Olympia on Saturday night. Simply because Fury wants to avenge the loss Price inflicted on him back in the amateurs which saw Price go the Olympics instead of him and I think that loss in the amateur loss still bugs Fury today and also if Fury wants to show he is a true Champ that he should take on Price because I think it will be an exciting fight and it will also be a big seller too put in the Echo Arena with a good undercard on it and it will be terrific.

To be fair, I think the fight is possibly bigger than the Echo arena, even at this stage of their embryonic careers.

I was there it never and Pricey boxed his head off and without being biased Pricey would KO him next time and any how Fury will not fight him he will avoid him.

To be honest at 16, Fury was literally a boy and would not even have finished growing. If he was able to take down a fully matured Price back then ... I have absolutely no doubt he will do the same more brutally now he too has matured.

Fury will be 24 this year, so he'd have been 17/18 in 2006. It's fair to say he was still a baby in terms of boxing experience when he fought Price though.

there is no desire to market or sell a showdown these days.

price has next to no mainstream profile at all outside the hardcore boxing fans

And why would a 16-year-old be fighting an ABA Champion in the ABA Champs? Don't be ridiculous. Fury was 18.

TBF I just googled it and the reports had the score and the 'fact' that Fury dropped Price.

I absolutely wasn't there - so if you were, then what I read is false!

Regarding Fury's age - he has just turned 23 I believe and the contest was 6 years ago, so using math he was either 16 or 17 depending on when in 2006 the contest took place

Which by anyone's standards is a boy/ teenager ... so I am not sure much can be read into the outcome. I was more surprised that someone so young had dropped Price.

But it turns out it may not be true, weirdly ...

He never dropped Price. He must have been at least 17 to enter the ABA's.
