Kid Galahad v Jason Booth

I think it's a good fight all round, genuine 50-50.

I hear this will be live on FIVE in Feb.

Major test for Barry (Galahad) at such an early stage - shows that his team have massive faith in him. Not many get put in with opponents like Booth in their ELEVENTH fight!

If he beats Booth and looks good doing it then we could have a fabulous domestic rivalry with the other two good prospects, Quigg and Frampton. Could be a cracking set of fights there - all young with years of boxing ahead of them.

I might be going soft in my old age, but I think it's a bit of a shame seeing Booth being placed in as the stepping stone fighter. I'd rather he had one last sign off fight in Nottingham and then jacked it in.

Of course he may fling this back at me by winning....but not sure where he'd go even if he did.

If he won I think the only title to aim for would be Frampton's Commonwealth title, unless he could move down a division.

Quite agree.... Jason's been a fantastic servant to the game and is one of the real charcters of and currently in boxing. Unfortunately (or not, depending on which side of the fence you're on) Boxing history is peppered with these type of fights though, the old stager V the new Kid on the block. I hope one way or t'other, Booth gets out of the game intact.

I assume this is 18th feb if its sheffield ?

I know a lad called Leigh Wood whos scheduled to box and would ordinarilly have been attending but i have a show myself just up the road in dinnington so cant go , also same night as Vitaly vs Chisora .

Wish these promotors would plan more in advance so i dont clash with them , its not good for me missing fights .

Did not expect this, Booth has it all to lose, nothing to gain, I mean where can this take him ? On the other hand this could propel Galahad.

This Fight has been confirmed in the Nottingham Post by Booths manager Jimmy Gill for March 17th on undercard of Brook vs Hatton in Sheffield .

Is Booth Not with Maloney now then , otherwise dont quite get why he would be doing this fight , In General theres no Promotor in Nottingham (other than the odd now and then that Carl Greaves or Matt Scriven put a show on here , so Jimmy Gill is always having to book the Nottingham lads to fight away , as a manager id have thought that unless the money is really good he wouldnt even be contemplating Booth fighting on another promotors show .

Apparantly its for the WBC International title over 12 rounds

http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/Booth ... story.html

As i stated earlier though i do know a lad whos fighting in sheffield on feb 18th , nothing on boxrec schedule when i looked last night though , which for a show 3 weeks away thats supposedly televised id imagine would be up by now .

Lee Noble is fighting Phil Fury live on channel 5 on 18th feb apparently...... who is headlining that??
id imagine that would be Tyson Fury ??????? or possibly Chris Eubank Jnr , see that makes more sense to me anyway as my mate who i said is due to box in sheffield that date had his last fight on the undercard of tyson fury at event city , so would make sense to be a hennesey bill that date , which is therfor unlikely to be hosting Galahad vs Booth , which in turn means it makes sense that my link is then the correct one and that its on undercard of Brook v hatton :TU:

still nothing listed for that date on boxrec schedule though :witzend:

Kami,
Only top of bill and Purdy definitely confirmed for 17th March.
I wouldn't be as carried away at this stage as you are.
Top of bill is good enough for me though.
I'm still hearing Barker won't be on.

John Ingle is Mick's matchmaker.
If the money's right and there's a title on the line - why not ?

Galahad and the Ingles have good links with Hennessey. All the promotors have been in for Barry but FIVE's involvement is a real game-changer in terms of developing a fighter's profile - probably more than ten times more viewers than a regular Sky fight. As said above, Barry would be crazy not to take this opportunity. FIVE are obviously looking to develop a handful of young fighters to feature in their shows and it seems that Tyson Fury, Barry and Eubank Jr are at the top of the list :TU:

Not really a main event terrestial tv type of match though is it ????? Surely not ???

wont get high viewing numbers , in my opinion wouldnt be worth channel 5s while .

suppose we will see soon enough .
