...to floor (even just a knockdown) George Chuvalo?

My feeling is the guys with the quick hands, in addition to crunching power, who may shock him, so a Louis, Tyson or perhaps even Dempsey.

However, Im voting no one. The guy's whiskers were just gibraltar!

Only one guy made Chuvalo turn away and no mas, but he didn't get listed.

I guess that is the fate of "third tier punchers".

I'd vote Foreman, thinking about that early left hook that sent Chuvalo into the ropes. He wasn't too far from dropping George towards the end, which I think was at least part of the reason George's manager wanted the fight stopped.

To explain Frazier's absence, I thought I would preclude anyone who was in their prime when they fought Chuvalo, on the basis they sort of, "had their shot," if you get me.

Okay, I would still vote Foreman on the basis of his greater power than Joe.

On the other hand, had Chuvalo not had his face busted and the fight stopped, Frazier would quite possibly have dropped Chuvalo sooner or later through sheer accumulation of damage. Frazier was clearly in control and I woud think he would have carried a stronger pace onto the middle and later rounds as opposed to Foreman who likely would have slowed down. I think Frazier was getting in cleaner shots on Chuvalo as opposed to what he landed on the somewhat similar Bonavena.

Yep, I agree Chuvalo's face was being turned into a bowl of chowder.

Still dont see Frazier as the strongest candidate, IMO.

Yep, Chuvalo was not sentimental about his face, and certainly he would be willing to carry on even in it's total absence.

Did you pick anyone, Jaclem? Or you think Chuvalo stays on his feet against all?

Chuvalo had a tendency to shell up when he was hurt, so it'd be especially difficult to drop him. It'd have to be an explosive one punch/combo guy, not a thudding hitter, methinks. Tyson and Louis are probably the best examples.

Thats my thinking, as I outlined. It needs to be someone who can hit him super-QUICK, as well as super-hard.

Louis or Tyson would be a better bet than most.

Chuvalo would likely be stopped by a ref before he gives in or falls down. But if the ref does not do the work for him, I think Louis or Foreman are the top answers. Followed by Frazier. He would be zombified by any of them if allowed to stay on his feet to the end.

btw, I find it INCREDIBLE that George Chuvalo apparently is still in good mental shape nowadays. Amazing.

The Bonavena rematch is a concern, though.

...i agree with buzz and the others who think a ref would stop the fight before chuvalo would hit the canvas. if the ref didn't i still say joe louis because louis had the stamina to fight at top level into the late rounds....but the next day louis' hands would hurt more than chuvalo's head.
