Easy question, who do you think were the best set of promoters?
1) Don King, Top Rank, Sports Network - 80's and 90's
Or
2) Golden Boy, Hayemaker, Mick Hennessey- 00's to now.

Funny how hated they all were at their peak.
King and Arum had the priceless ability of making things into an "event"

Don King in the 80's thats for sure. He had options on most of the heavyweights in the top ten and basicaly manipulated it to his advantage. Not saying hes the best i spose but most succesfull.
Nowdays its got to be Golden Boy as they have deep pockets and as far as i can see it can pick and choose pretty much as well.
I think any fighter that can get a deal with GBP is pretty much assured of the right moves being made for them. Its like having a team of top lawyers working on your behalf.

tell you something, i have only been to 1 coldwell show, it was the ryan rhodes/curtis woodhouse show at the magna a good few weeks ago.
i was very very impressed, the fights were as entertaining as any other bill, the format of the evening was superb, venue is supers (remember woods v hoye) prices were good, bar/party at the end and i got to meet a bird i really fancy...jane couch!, good proper hot food was available, communication throughout the evening was good, no long silly waits for tv channels to give the thumbs up.

You got to give it to him for bidding what he did with no tv at the time, to me that is telling people that he defiantly wants to make some noise in the promoting game. Little is big now days !!!
