Which Division Are You (And Should Be) In?

Currently, I weigh 85kgs (187lbs), but although thats a good weight for me at 5'8", I should really weigh around 80kgs (176lbs), so Im in the right division, but a little heavier than ideal. I have a broad-shouldered, solid frame by nature, but I train against that, opting for HIIT cardio over weights. Looking at the height of other boxers though, Id be a short Cruiser, probably with a short reach.

Whats your current division, and is it your ideal one? How does it compare with boxers of the past?

I would have thought you'd be better suited to Light Heavyweight, Irene, especially if at 187lb you're over your ideal weight. If you could make 176lb, then surely you could make 175lb?

I'm currently 73kg (161lb) and 6'1" in height with an armspan/reach of 77 inches. I'm currently carrying a bit of flab around the middle and could easily make 154lb for light middleweight and could possibly drain to 147lb for welterweight. I would have comfortably made welterweight in my early-mid 20s, but now at 27 I'm not so sure. Generally when I'm at my fittest, my weight is around 69-71kg (152-156lb). I'm naturally lanky and actually do some weight training as well as cardio. So I guess that makes me a tall, rangey light middleweight.

Eh...I suppose youre right. Thing is, Id have to be 79kgs (174lbs) to make LHW, and the lowest weight of my adult life was 77kgs, which on my was absolutely ripped, without an ounce of fat, and even now at 85kgs, Im in above-average (but not outstanding) condition, so making 175 would require near-perfect discipline...then again, Ive never had the carrot of a million-dollar purse to motivate me :lol:

I'm 6'5", 235, and will fight one fight against anyone for 3 million U.S. cash.

The money has to be in my acct before I enter the ring and there are no performance guarantees. :D

I will be be acting as my own manager and trainer, no hangers on in my camp.

Oh yeah, one other thing. I'm closing in on 60. :wink:

Even if you are roughly twice my age (Im 28 in a few months), I just developed a new appreciation for our Foreman-Frazier debates being online affairs :lol:

i was an amateur boxer not so long ago I was a feather, right now I'm around 160-164

Just got back from a month and a half of hard drinking/shagging :DDD . However I'm probably somewhere arounds 210ibs so I would be a draining cruiser as is. Ideally with my current level of fat/muscle, in shape I should be draining to make light heavy or maybe even super mid, entering around 180.

5'10 weighing 145 lbs :-?

If I get into fighting shape Id most likely be 150 with less fat and more muscles. Could drain back to 140 easily.

As a young man who used to train a lot, and spar a little, I hovered just above 140 on a 6 foot frame. That was me tight as a drum, no fat at all. As I got older I naturally grew to 160 by the time I hit 30. That was 160 with decent definition though not training too hard.

These days (I’m 40) I’m about 170. Not too bad shape but could do with hitting the sit-ups.

Sounds like about the same as me. I may have been able to make 140 when I was 19-21, but definitely not now.

5'11'' and 175lbs now. Working out 4 mornings a week and coaching hockey a couple times a week. With dieting, could possibly go down to the SMW limit.

im`e 5" 7"" and bang on 140 lb so i suppose i could have taken on ricky hatton,with my fighting style of get your retaliation in first and leg it if they don`t go down i like to think the hitman would have problems on the outside!!!

Genetics are a funny thing.

I see a lot of guys here taller than me who are at, or could be at, weights I couldnt POSSIBLY make. Even without a drop of fat on me, Ive never been below 77kgs (169lbs).

I must have the heaviest bones on the forum :lol:

srsly, although not as bonesy as you, it amazes me to see people only weighing 140 lbs or so on 6 foot frames. Ever since I was in my early 20's, never weighed less then 165 lbs.

Cruiserweight for me. 190 would probably be my perfect weight at my age, though I sometimes go North of 200.

I dont know the ins and outs of it, but it does amaze me to wonder how a guy can have the same definition as me, be at the same fitness, with the same body fat percentage, but weigh 20 or 30 lbs fewer. How the hell does that work!?

I struggle to be 80kgs (175lbs) or below, and that weight includes a distinctly low heart rate, 6-pack, and excellent condition.

If it isnt bones, what else accounts for such wide variances?

See my point? This guy is an inch taller than me, but both of us in top shape, we're 40+ lbs apart!!!

Even now, hes at a weight I couldnt dream of making (160-165).

I am 5'11" and 173lbs. That makes me a light-heavyweight.
