Bunce Boxing Hour

Maybe am just been nostalgic but it has'nt the same feel as the setanta days Bunce and Lilis dont work together unless theres a presenter, the show desperatly needs Andy Kerr to give it some much needed balance. Another way to improve the show is not to spend so long talking about the past as much as i love hearing the old stories sometimes it feels like a history lesson

Haven't watched it; but there was a classic bit of Bunce on allegedly's live show....talking about how Texas is full of Mexican, both legal and illegal, who will be watching the Chavez Rubio grudge match.

And that Rubio has a 'skin complaint' (seems more than a complaint :D ) which leaves his face 'half white, half brown which makes him an ugly so and so'!    classic.

Moments like this I like Bunce....

Loved the boxing hour on Setanta. Can't get into this one. Agree about too much history, no Andy Kerr and only talks about FW fighters (which you can't really blame him for).

Bunce slags off the very forums he was grovelling around to gain support and he regularly visits to tell us about what programme he is doing on the radio or TV.

At first Bunce was excellent the way he banged the drum on behalf of boxing and its fans, but you then dont commit the ultimate sin by turning on the very people who supported you so loyally.

Bunce has to applauded for what he has done on behalf of boxing but what is so confusing is the criticisms he levels at the forums who have kept him in the limelight.

its insecurity....Bunce knows any number of the educated posters on here have good writing skills and he knows they could take his newspaper work....thats why he has in the last 3-4 years gone so over the top with his ballistic fat man in a tight suit who finds every thing so mindblowing and incredulous act....its what pays his mortgage and gets him a packet....its how he got the pardon the interuption gig....which could be a job for life...he was a lot quieter on inside sport and the work dried up there.....so you can see his thinking....but the ignorant attacks on posters here is unforgivable considering when Setanta died and he was nowhere on TV he relied on the forum posters he now attacks to petition and lobby for him...

I haven't seen it, did he even slate his beloved East Side forum too?

Is it just me who finds Lillis...quite ignorant of the foreign fighters? Having never seen Chavez before his bout with Manfredo (or maybe it was Zbik), having completely forgotten that Canelo had beaten Gomez and having never taken the time to watch Russell Jr prior to needing to cover him live (then his comment about "internet fans seeing clips of him on youtube"). It's almost like "It's your ****ing job to know about these fighters and done more than look at just their ****ing records!"

Bunce..well he's a loud mouthed irritant who does as much bad as he does good for the sport of boxing. Yes he publicises it but he also turns people away from the sport by coming across as an arrogant ***** who needs to squeal like a fat pig to get his point across. I'd rather have an intelligent guy hosting a show and being articulate about it than Bunce, Bob Mee would make a fantastic host of a TV show.

Within 5 minutes Lillis has already done what I mentioned!
Vazquez's last fight WASN'T against Arce! Who does the research for him?...

What is Bunce's problem with this forum?

Too much Michael Barrymore talk?

Everthing about Sky boxing is all so so wrong....why cant they put together a proffesional and competent 3 man commentary team like the Americans....why cant they critically analyse fighters the way Sky footballs pundits do footballers....that is independantly... I mean do you hear any of the football anchors speak of "our english champions Man Utd@ or "our london champions Chelsea".....there is too much matey cosiness and people are afraid to offer any critical comment.........who started all this shit?.....it was Bunce.....with his shitty downmarket boxing hour show which gives a minority sport feel to the same sport that only 15 years ago was the richest sport of them all...

Bob Mee he could be a good Harold Lederman type figure coming in between rounds....and realistically thats all he should be.... if we really want to see how its done right take a look at Steve Holdsworth on Eurosport....the man knows more about boxing than Bunce could dream of....he has been in the ring.....he says what he feels like....he offers criticism with humour....and can hold a 3 hour telecast on his own and make it entertaining without screaming, ranting and raving, and looking like he is gonna burst and have a heart attack at the mention of the most mundane fact...

Yeah Holdsworth really does need a better gig than Eurosport he's been brilliant for years. Even when he's off topic he's a joy to listen to.

I agree with so much of this. Sky over egg the pudding and BN is just so cheap it's painful.

You're right there's too much buddy buddy with the fighters/promoters and not enough scrutiny.
