I love it- it's brill..... It has some problems though- but hear me out on this one.......

How about a 16 man tourney but over 6 rounds with an 8 round final!!!!

Put the show on at the same venue on consecutive Saturday's for a greater amount of money. It would take four weeks - stick a good undercard on weeks three and four maybe matching some of the failed contestants in six rounders. I think it would do great.

Over six these fights have a lot more value then the 3 round tasters were getting at the moment- also would give more recovery etc....

Call it something different- but I think you can take away a lot of the negatives here and interest and ticket sales will likely build up to the final???

The top 16 domestic fighters or prospects all going at it every few months will turn the division on its head and help viewers develop interests in guys they haven't heard of previously.

Heres my suggestions

~Limit them to 3 maybe 4 a year
~Have the reserves fight each other before the final so the fighter in the second semi final is not fighting back to back
~Stop bringing back faded names it cheapens it
~Add bonuses for knockouts and fight off the night (Have people vote online/red button)

good suggestions, i also reckon the PF should strike some kind of a deal with one of the bodies so that the winner doesnt only get 32k or whatever it is, but a genuine carer boost.

say for example a british title fight, or if thats maybe a bit too much, then perhaps an elimantor vs one of the top 10 or so in the division, where a win would then lead onto a british title fight.

Yep I expected more pf winner vs PF winner match ups and stuff like that! It's a great step forward though. Any feedback on my idea?

Can't see any improvements; beaten semi-finalist should replace anyone unable to fulfil final.

I'd offer a bonus for knockouts in 1st and 3rd rounds. Try to ensure fast start and fast finish.

Some good suggestions there.

With regards to the initial post, a big attraction with the current format is that it is all done and dusted in one nights entertainment.

Moving away from this towards a more Super 6 format (where there can be delays and cancelled fights, pull outs etc.) would IMO detract from its major plus point.

Maybe the problem is the frequency - and also (and many won't like this), people like to see big heavyweights trying to knock each other out, and the casual fan is not so interested in the lower weights.

The only change i would like to see is a support fight before the final gives both boxers a little longer to recover and make a cracking final.

How about 4 men fighting 6 rounders rather than 8 men fighting 3 rounders?

I think the one night event is what Prizefighter is all about. 8 down to 1 is a classic idea.

The problem that I see with it is that people want good action and KO's. I bet we all prefer the HW editions.

I don't think it's going stale, just that the last couple haven't been great events. Still good entertainment.

Your idea is something very similar to what im going to do ununlicensed later in the year and if it works well could try to replicate when i get my pro license , although money will be the main issue for a promotor just going into the pros as i would be , maybe if i could tempt tv or a big sponsership or work with another promotor etc , ill not give away too much detail in case my idea is stolen lol but its in a similar vein to what your op suggests .

The problem would be asking spectators to buy 4 tickets for consecutive weeks - unless you offered a season ticket / discount, but some people might just be interested in the final and not the earlier rounds.

Prizefighter is all in the one night which is part of the excitement for me.

For me

[*]Cash prizes for knockouts and fight of the night.
[*]More International Prizefighter

And that is all I can think of.

I much prefer PF in the lighter weight divisions.
The one that were won by Gary Buckland (130 lbs), Gavin Rees (140 lbs) and Willie Casey (122 lbs) have been the best PF's by far imo.
When PF delivers like those editions did, it's the best show in boxing.

But I'm starting to feel PF has hit a "dry patch" in terms of excitement.
The last few editions have all been disapointments imo.

Maybe it's just me, but I seem to notice that the fighters have a more tactical minded approach towards PF now than they used to have.
Before it seemed it was all about winning every round and forcing a fast pace, now many of them seem to be gambling more on taking less risks and saving themselves as much as possible.
That makes perfect sense if you're the fighter competing - after all, you could be on your way to winning and lose it all because of a cut.
But those tactics make the fights a lot less fan friendly.

I'm hoping it will all pick up again, because the format is brilliant when at it's best.
But these days I'm not so high on PF as I was a couple of years ago.

Maybe a "best turned out" bonus, like they do at the Grand National?

I like the International concept. Four home-grown fighters and four from abroad.

The usual UK line-up is fine, if they have some good (big) names. I liked the last 'PF' but one or two haven't been of Great interest.

Jeff's original post sounds a bit similar to the "French cup" system. I like that, maybe the prizefighter champion in Jeff's system gets named mandatory challenger for the British title (maybe make the final of 10 rounds).

Prizefighter is great in theory but has not really worked in reality. Scrappy fights, too few stoppages. I think it only works for yhe heavyweights. And a 3 round fight is largely meaningless for th epros

what about the fights becoming 4x2's.... and the final being 4x3's
