Now I'm not saying we've got the best fighters skill wise, but the Domestic Heavyweight division sure is the most fun I can ever remember it being at the moment.

We've got Chisora and Haye, both mouthy mental gobshites who are proven to be competitive at world level, just can't beat the best.

Then lower tier you have Tyson Fury, a 6'9" gypsy fighting man with "mental problems" that is always in a good tear up.

David Price, 6'8" and looking absolutely mustard.

Richard Towers: ex violent con, 6'8" still untested but has all the tools.

Then you've got the gate keepers, and also rans like Sam Sexton, Big John McDermott, Tom Dallas, Big Larry, etc.

Then you've got the old boys still skulking around: Sprott, Skelton.

Like I said they are not the greatest bunch of fighters ever but put all those names in a hat and pull out two and you're almost guaranteed a good fight. Is there anywhere else in the world that has a heavyweight scene so full of characters and potentially great match ups? Certainly not the US. Eastern European boxers may be better but the British scene is much more exciting. Happy days I think.

a bit harsh to call Tom Dallas a gatekeeper.

he came up against a much bigger, harder hitting man in David Price in a fight he never should have taken (at very short notice im sure).
this was after 15 straight wins and was looking like a decent british prospect and might get his career back on track, still only 26.

I hope so. I like him. However you really can't put him in the upper tier. He got a gift against Zack Page in his previous fight, got sparked by Price (granted he took the fight on very short notice and should be commended for his bravery) and so the kid has to rebuild. But I agree I still think he can do something good.

i agree with your overall point though, the HW scene is hotting up nicely, and i guess you could argue that last nights brawl could potentially drum up the most interested in HW boxing for many years.

How about these fights:

(Winners get a Klitschko each. The losers can row each other.)

I don't know about the most fun, its certainly the most embarrassing, with the 'performance' from our two classless idiots last night. Sad :(

Tom Dallas is a brave man but stone me to have the bottle to drop your guard and let price catch you on the jaw with one of his big rights is madness. They arnt best mates either they sparred quite a bit but arnt mates socialy

He always looked like being the best prospect, I'm just nervous about the first time he takes a heavy shot to the chin.

I remember about ten years or so ago we had Hide-Williams-Harrison, all calling each other out and doing there best to hype things (remember Hide at York Hall getting up on a chair at an Audley fight and nearly causing a mini-riot?) Sorry but while I like Danny Williams, and Hide is always an interesting character, Audley was always boring as eff and the three of them had nothing excitement wise to match our current batch of mental heavyweights. It is a freakshow, but if we are lucky we are going to see some great fights. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Its certainly making it interesting , i dont remember so many non boxing fans talking about boxing
