If rumors can be believed mundine is fighting alfonso gomez in april, so much for turning down austin trout because there were bigger names out there for him to fight.

No surprise. We all knew Mundine wasnt going to fight Trout or any other big names at LMiddle.

Ive always liked Gomez's style of boxing, i just dont know how it would play out against Mundine, especially coming off a TKO loss against Alvarez.

This tale of intrigue about de Man's next opposition has appeared in print and begins with:
ANTHONY Mundine is poised to relinquish a world title fight with super welterweight champion Austin Trout in favour of a lucrative three-fight deal in the United States. Mundine is the mandatory challenger for Trout's WBA belt but he's poised to sign with Top Rank, one of the giants in the US fight promotion game.

The headline should have read "Top Rank signs Top Wank"!

The report can be read HERE

There is also talk of Choc fighting Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Does this mean the incredible shrinking man wants to fight at welterweight?

I really really would love to see this happen but... sorry Choc, too many promises, too much bullshit. And you are well past your best. Ye gods-the fact that after all his shafting of fans he could actually seriously expect anyone but a teenager with identity issues to belive this. Sad thing is- i do ,even now, think he has one big one left in him. OK- just slapped myself in the face and now reality beckons.

If Choc wants to fight Argentines it is lucky for him he is not a middleweight any more.

The middleweight ranked first in Argentina is also ranked first in the world. Maybe Anthony should ask his dad what an Argentine named Monzon did to him.

Well, he did beat Kevin Pompey on the Lucas/Catley undercard in Quebec in 2001, and Canadians joke about themselves as people who can't get jobs in the USA, so..... :shame:

I just read this?
The WBA Championship Committee has sent information has called a purse bid for a fight between WBA regular super welterweight champion Austin Trout (24-0, 14 KOs) and the interim super welterweight world champion Anthony Mundine (43-4, 25 KOs). The minimum bid is $150,000 and the auction will be held March 29th at WBA Headquarters in Panama City with WBA Executive Vice President Gilberto Jesus Mendoza presiding.
Finding it hard to comprehend just why it would go ahead. I doubt Mundine will even take the fight - I hope he does but after so many let downs and bullshit story's I'm kinda thinking "Yeah right whatever".

I believe that a Trout versus the Incredible Shrinking (or is it shirking) Man is a furphy based on this media report from a couple of days ago, in which The Man has stated that he will by-pass an immediate Trout match-up:
Anthony Mundine is down to the final two fighters in a bid to line up against boxing royalty in Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr.
Mundine said it's between him and British and Commonwealth champion Martin Murray for a June 16 bout with Chavez, whose legendary namesake father is considered the greatest Mexican fighter.

The Australian, who is the mandatory challenger for the WBA light middleweight belt held by Austin Trout, is set to forgo that fight and move up a division for a crack at WBA middleweight champion Chavez, whose record is 45-0.

He signed a deal with American manager Cameron Dunkin, who has until later this month to secure a fight. "It's really up to the Chavez people about who's going to get the nod," Mundine said. "I've been a little bit frustrated not knowing but I'm just hoping I get a shot."

He said if he didn't get Chavez he hoped to get on the same card to showcase his talents to the American boxing public.

The 36-year-old, who is 10 years older than Chavez, admits the Mexican is a special fighter. "He's unbelievable, he's grown in leaps and bounds in the last two years," he said. "I think he's the best young champion that's out there today so it will be a big, big test for him. "But it will be a big test for him too. "I have to skills and experience; every tool I need to give him big trouble and beat him."

Mundine has only had one fight in North America, against Kevin Pompey in Montreal in 2001. If the Chavez bout falls through Mundine said he would consider Trout, who pounded another Australian Frank LoPorto last November. A re-match with Australia's IBF world middleweight champion Daniel Geale is also a possibility. Mundine is the only blemish on Geale's 27-fight record, winning with a controversial points decision in 2009. Earlier this month, Geale said he would take pleasure in "shutting the mouth of Anthony Mundine for good.

Go for the rubber match with Wood, he's goose is cooked and he knows it, if that novice puts him down just wait for the real chicken dance from one of the big boys. In fact Gomez may even be good enough to do it.
Age isn't helping Mundine but dropping back down to LM must be really hard for him. I can't remember which weigh in it was recently but he's looking too skinny to the point of unwell.

Looks like a Chavez Jnr v Sergio Martinez fight is in the works which would do big business so Anthony Mundine would be the last thing on his mind.

Also Alfonso Gomez is set to fight Jessie Vargas on the Mayweather/Cotto undercard. So that won't be happening.

Once again Anthony Mundine is looking like a clown. Promising the world and delivering nothing.

Just read this:
On March 29th you were scheduled to have a purse bid with Anthony Mundine but that didn’t happen, can you talk to us a little about what happened there?

Well, our people were there for the purse bid and he had a guy show up but he wasn’t authorized or licensed to bid so it didn’t happen, but our people were there for the bid. It’s kind of good that it didn’t happen, not that I don’t want to fight Mundine because I would love to fight him but we just added Al Haymon to the picture, we recently signed with Al Haymon and now Mundine is small time now compared to what’s being worked on.
Trout is looking for bigger fish to fry why'll Mundine is doing nothing new - Maybe a fight with K9.

Heavy rumour around that Khoder and Mundine have called it a day. Mundine is expected to announce his retirement next week.

April 3 and still no confirmation of a fight.

Nothing is happening this month for Choc.

Retirement would probably be a good idea. It would at least remove the air of expectation the public seem to have of him being in a big fight soon.

Maybe a couple of years off then a rematch with Danny Green, I am sure people would be dumb enough to buy that PPV.

Hearns - what do you mean by Khoder and Mundine have called it a day? will Khoder no longer be involved in Boxing either?

There has been a story going about in recent weeks about Khoder and Choc falling out over their plans for Sonny Bill. The scuttlebutt is that Choc wants sonny to give up Rugby and concentrate on boxing while Khoder disagrees. There is also talk that Williams is leaving Rugby Union to play NRL for Sydney City, that Mundine is becoming friends with Jeff Fenech and Phil Rothfield of the Daily Tele, neither of whom are friends with Nasser.

For all I know dogs are mating with cats and Rockin' Robin can still outbop the buzzard and the oriol. :KO:

Boxing will be a better place without Nasser, the quicker he's out, the better, he has done nothing good for Mundine's career

Fenech at least has the overseas contacts, he could make things happen for Choc, without all the secrecy and mystery, he would make him keep his feet on the ground without all the spin and garbage that Nasser spews out right now
