Does anyone know enough about Johnson to call this fight?
This dreamfight has always had me interested.
From what ive seen of Johnson, he has an awesome jab and a devistating right hand.
I know Holyfield has the tools to counter Johnson, but will it be enough?
Who wins?

What do you mean, does anyone know enough about Johnson to call it?
Hes not exactly an obscure figure?

The fight itself isnt my idea of a dreamfight, personally.
Holyfield's co-trainer during his prime, Georgie Benton, said, "If you aint got a good partner, its hard to dance," and such would be Holyfield's (and the crowds) problem here --- Johnson would spoil, he had a great uppercut, smooth, educated jab, his right was versatile and packed a decent wallop. I think he would react sourly to Holyfield's fouling and combos, while Holyfield would do the same, seeing Johnson so shelled and cautious.
I'll give it to Holyfield on activity in a snoozer, IMO.

Interesting take. Watching the Ketchel fight, i find it hard for Holyfield to find Johnson.

I'd give this to Johnson even at 12 rounds!!!
He would be too clever for the very skilled Holyfield.
It wouldn't be a KO unless it was a 20 rounder, and even then it would probably go to points.

Ketchel was a MW and the bout was staged for all but the last moments?

Johnson would win a clear decision. For all of Evander's purported boxing ability, what master boxer did he ever outbox? He had decent skills, no doubt, but his career was built on outboxing/out-"heart"ting guys who were not very hard to find and who conditioning-wise left something to be desired (post-prison Tyson, Bowe, old Foreman, old Holmes, Mercer, fat Douglas, Stewart, Dokes).
Probably the slickest 'boxer' he ever faced not in his 40s was Michael Moorer, who he went 1-1 with and even in their rematch, Moorer was outboxing Evander . . Holyfield just had overpowered Michael in that fight.
I don't see Evander doing well with any of the true ATG 'stylists' a la Johnson, Charles, Ali, Tunney, prime Holmes etc.

I didnt know that fight was staged at all.
I do know Ketchel was a MW, and he rarely caught Johnson during the fight except for his knockdown over hand right, and based on that, i say Holyfield will find it hard to land on an elusive Johnson.

It was informally pre-arranged to go the distance . . but the fight itself wasn't "staged" . .Ketchel's pulpy mess of a face would ensure that it was very welll staged indeed; Hollywood-style special effects in 1910!!

Arranged to go the distance is a pretty comprehensive stage, to me.
