A fantastic talent. He took a good look at his opponent and stepped back quickly out of trouble nearly every time a shot was coming his way (like what Wlad did against Haye) and capitalized almost every time there was an opening. His opponent was very game and tried to get in close and throw a lot of punches but he wasn't able to connect with anything of note. Broner looked like he had real power as well, although he did look very big for a super-feather. Jim Watt wasn't a fan of his showboating but apart from his dance away from a break, he was pretty much all business in the ring and his personality will make people tune in and make him a fortune.

Some great fights up at lightweight for him, Brandon Rios, Roberto Guerrero, Juan Manuel Marquez as well as Burns/Mitchell.

It's a shame Edwin Valero is dead. what a fight that would of been.

He looks very good. Speed, timing and power.

However, he acts like an arrogant tit out of the ring, with a massive group of hanger ons, like Pryor had back in the day "What time is it? Hawk time"

Some massive fat bloke was in the ring grooming his hair as he was being interviewed. It`s not nice viewing if your not into that gangsta bullshit that many yanks seem to lap up.

As far as boxing talent goes, the guy has it in bundles.

A big talent, but a big gob shite as well. Think he's after becoming the new mayweather.

Precociously talented, yet for all that still flawed. His footwork especially, & against better opposition he waits too long looking for the perfect shot.

But he's going to be around for a while. Not going to be another Floyd, though.

I really rate him, his main flaw be that he is trying to hard to emulate other peoples styles instead of finding his own, but i suppose if its comeing natural it probably isnt forced. I cant wait to see him in some big fights. And on another note i like the flashness and cockyness sport needs these characters.

He's got plenty of talent but he is a bit of a Mayweather clone. What the fcuk were his trunks all about?

A big unit like Brandon Rios at lightweight wouldn't get steam rolled by Broner thats for sure.

gamboa is the best boxer around those weights though.

He looked to have everything, was really impressed. Only seen highlights of him before weekend but definitely one to watch.

He's obviously a special talent. I didnt think his defence was anything like as good as Mayweather's, he doesnt move his head all that much, preferring to catch punches on his guard. Regarding Rios, I disagree, I think Broner would systematically destroy him. Just by unloading and then stepping off Murray had success with him.

Broner will become a multi million megastar ,
Hes got all the ingredients , and will have some tuning in to see him shine whilst some will want to see him fail , a bit like Naz personality was .

No offence but he strikes me as Naz with wit. For all his quirky charm Hamed had all the ad-libbing gravitas of Chris Moyles after a weight-induced stroke.

imo If Napa Could Punch like a world class Fighter At FLY Weight this is what he would of been like and would of Cleaned up.. Done 100's of rounds sparring with Napa starting from the age of 15, he was Naturally Gifted with this sort of style.

Im amazed this thread has been going for a couple of days without any derisory comments about Ricky Burns and Mr Nelson has not said much either!!!!

I havent seen Broner myself but I'lll make an effort to watch him in future.

Moving up to fight Katsidis at home was definitely the better choice for Burns.

Broner has it all at 130: speed, power, and skill.

The massive fat bloke is his Dad and yeah the American's seem to love all that 'Gangsta shit'. Can't stand it, personally.

The guy has some serious talent but his opponents, whilst ok, are a lot smaller than him. The guy had trouble with Ponce De Leon, winning a tight fight but he is improving. Burns needs to stay well away from him to be honest, but the likes of Gamboa and possibly Juamna, particurlarly Gamboa, will prove dangerous opponents.

Good fighter, trying too hard to be like Mayweather, with his approach and style but fair play, it is working for him (he never used to fight that way, with the hands tucked up and the shoulder rolling, side on etc...he has added that).

If Broner was looking to come up to Scotland (Or at least England) to fight Burns then it would be a different matter.
Dont think any reigning champions would ever be very keen to go fight in someone elses backyard, especially when they are such a dangerous opponent. Obviously the only return for doing this comes when the money is put on the table but Burns was already supposed to have been struggling to make the weight anyway. For that reason it was a no-brainer to take on Katsidi's and make a mark in the new division straight away.

Dont forget that there were plenty people on here betting against Burns v Katsidis so he never exactly moved up and took on a bum.

I don't think burns broener made sense at the time as it simply would have likely served as a dangerous no win for Ricky. Now he's known as such I expect that fight could happen at some stage.

He's talented and funny. He has charisma and style to be a star. Just hope he doesn't become an a-hole.
