The fight is only delayed, not cancelled.
Ryan sustained a back injury during sparring with Kerry Hope - both were preparing for EBU title shots.
He has been forced to take three weeks out of his preparation.
The fight should take place early June.

Hinting at contractural dispute?

Let's just put the record straight.
The article refers to a Management Contract dispute.
Rhubarb.
Ryan is self Managed and has been so for the last 13 months, so unless he is in dispute with himself then the comment is laughable.
Ryan has one fight left on his current Promotional Contract with Hatton Promotions and he is due to sign a new deal with them very shortly.
There have been no disputes, the deal is agreed.
I think that the author has confused a previous Management Contract dispute between Ryan and He who shall not be named which was subsequently resolved.
The fight is being rescheduled.
Injuries happen this one occurring during sparring with Kerry Hope.
As a consequence of seeing all the medical ecidence the EBU are fine with allowing the fight to be delayed - probably to early June.
Daisycat - what is there in the link that you've posted that leads yo to say "heard this might happen" ?

Daisy cat author of 3 posts all of which are shit and without foundation . Injury pospones fight SHOCKER there were three this week . Rabchenko may be dissapointed now but not half as much as when his unbeaten run ends when Ryan sparks him out in june .
Which a week before you'll probably resurface giving it your boring mate

Well, not really. Just because a poster is new and may have an ‘agenda’ doesn’t mean they are factually inaccurate. Daisy planted the seed a few weeks ago and, wouldn’t you know it, Rhodes pulls out citing injury.
This news is followed-up by Bob Westerdale of the Sheffield Star, an experienced and savvy journalist, who infers that Rhodes may have expressed some frustrations over his management. Westerdale has a good relationship with the movers and shakers within the Sheffield boxing scene – he wouldn’t have plucked that suggestion out of thin air without there being any foundation in it.
Who knows what the real truth is but I’ll certainly keep an eye on Daisy’s posts moving forward. One thing that I don’t buy is that Rhodes would be running scared of Rabchenko – Ryan’s been in the best and he’s unlikely to be phased by the prospect of facing an undefeated, largely untested European.
Time will tell if this fight happens.

Ben,
The fight is on.
The only thing to be sorted is the date, and in that respect it is something the Promotor has to sort with the Broadcaster.
Ryan has already had a word with Bob and he has indeed referred to Ryan's previous dispute with ER HUM and that is history.
I'm surprised at you querying my veracity Mr Carey, do you not believe my earlier post is factual ?!
Rhodes has been self managed since January 2011.
Check it out with the Board if you like. If he has had a dispute then he needs to stop looking in the mirror so much.
Too many conspiracy theorists around.

Self-managed Rhodes in managerial dispute:

I've just had a look at some of the historical posts, and it seems because Rhodes has asked about this kid of lads who have sparred him etc means Rhodes doesn't fancy it.
Well there's a first - shock horror, boxer makes enquiries about his next opponent !
Hardly a headline is it.
The fight is on.
At least it's been re arranged. I think you'll find other fights announced as off recently - off meaning never to happen - should perhaps be the focus of the conspiracy theorists.

I think Mr Westerdale has got his wires crossed here - Rhodes' contract fallout was with a previous business parter - not himself!
He was also seen to hurt his back in an open session over in Manchester i believe and he's had lots of probs with the back before. He's also rearranged the fight, not cancelled it, and twenty-six is right to make that distinction.
THat said, whenever a fighter pulls out he can expect some cynicism - it's part of the sport.

I was going to add to the deabte by saying that Ryan has had a lot of back problems in the past, so it's no suprise to hear the news. It always makes me laugh when i hear of these so called "insiders" people, journalists etc, who have the low down an what's happenning. I think in the case of Ryan, we can safely go on the posts made by twenty six.

Ben
Which of Daisy cats post are factually correct ?
He has insinuated that Rhodes was always going to
pull out . As have you though you back tracked
why would Ryan take the fight if he was'nt up for it ?
This is the same guy who fought Saul Alvarez last year
and then is accused of ducking an unknown European
doesnt make sense does it ?
All a bit boring now .

Twenty,
No offence was meant at all mate, i can assure you. If you read this thread, i actually say that whilst you hear from all sorts of people claiming to know this and that, we could rely on what you said, with regards to Ryan Rhodes. I respect you as a poster mate and we get on well, so i would never make such allegations against you. I just saw the style and how it was written and it looked almost identical to you posts. There aren't many people who post as you do and the style is quite distinctive. I am always happy to take what you say in good faith and will continue to do so.

Daisy Cat suggested that Rhodes would pull out, he may have been off the mark as to the reason why he has, but.... Rhodes won't be fighting Rabchenko on March 24. He called it, whether by malicious luck or inside knowledge. The lads closest to Ryan on here say he's injured and that the fight will take place on a rearranged date, so I believe them. 26 has clarified that Ryan is now self-managed which leads me to wonder what tree journalist Bob Westerdale was barking up? It all seems a bit odd to me.
To your other point, I haven't backtracked on anything. I'm not questioning Rhodes' bottle because he's got plenty. Perhaps years of cynacism have made me question everything people tell me in Boxing. Ryan Rhodes is a great fighter, a lovely guy who I wish continued success to. However, that doesn't necessarily mean I believe everything he says, or anyone else for that matter. I guess it's a fact of life.
Years ago, I arranged to interview Ryan in the lead-up to his fight with Gary Lockett. When I rang him he didn't seem his usual relaxed self and asked if we could rearrange the interview as he was en route to the hospital to visit his Grandad who had been taken ill. After the Lockett fight, in which Ryan did very well in, it emerged that Rhodes' preparations were severely impacted by a back injury which forced him to seriously consider pulling out. I totally appreciate and agree with why Ryan wanted to keep this quiet but believe everything that people tell me in boxing? Sadly, not.

I know what you're saying Ben, but I think over the years you learn who is happy to tell it like it is, whos information needs dividing by two, and whos information you should verify with a third party before giving it credance.
Bob is known as a local journalist who likes to stoke it up from time to time, but really on this occasion he has made himself look foolish regarding the Management Contract.
I suspect similar to a few others, he has listened to rumour and innuendo and shot from the hip.
Only a week ago I got a phone call asking why Rhodes was in Tenerife on holiday if he was injured.
At the time he was sat on my settee !!!
In fact it was his brother that was in Tenerife.
That's how pathetic and ridiculous some rumour spreading pathetic individuals can be.
On this occasion if the "accurate suggestion" from flowery pussy - sorry Daisycat - is that he knew he was going to pull out can someone explain to me why for the last 12 or so days, frantic negotiations by the Rhodes camp have been going on to get the fight rescheduled thankfully ending up in success ?
That is not the action taken by anyone "not fancying" the job.
Let me assure you, there were numerous fighters waiting in the wings to replace him against Rabchenko.
I think the conspiracy theorists would be better placed looking at the "injuries" sustained by Fraudly and Barker - lets see if these fights get rescheduled.

I appreciate why you get frustrated mate. I'm pleased a date has been sorted - should be a very good fight.
