Hi gents, sorry for my ignorance.....

*) Is Coleman Barret still Irish Heavyweight champion?

*) If he is - would there not be a good reason for him to vacate it and then challenge the high-profile winner?

*) Is anyone else stumped....because Fury picking up the Irish title makes sense, but having this bout as a non-title fight just seems incredibly "plateau" for Tyson's career.

i wondered about this. but ultimately what r belts actually worth nowadays.

Fury held the British and commonwealth straps. He vacated them so belts clearly mean little to him.
The Irish is nowhere near as prestigious as either of those.

If i understood right from the press conference they have to get an Irish License to be eligible , which Tyson Fury doesnt currently hold although they was looking into the paperwork to see if it was possible , i think hennessey said it still could be for the Irish title but he didnt want to say it was until it was 100%

That can't be true. Frankie Gavin has never had an Irish licence and neither has Matthew Macklin and both held Irish titles. Assume it's the same with Jamie Moore, while Irish Boxing Union has no authority in the north anyway.

Martin Rogan was saying about he holds both so hes not got a prob , said his Irish Runs out in November .

Best bet is to watch the press conference and listen for yourself , i had my kids running around while trying to listen .

You may have been able to listen to the presser easier than i could so maybe you could shed light on that ?

Because Rogie didn't want to come straight out and say that he only had a British licence.

I think I heard someone say at the presser that Coleman Barrett was stripped of the Irish title, although I don't know why. I seem to recall Hennessy saying at the previous Fury-Firtha conference that Barrett had turned down a fight with Fury unless he'd had a couple of warm-ups first.
