It's either a massive co-incidence (same name and birthdate) or former England cricketer (born in Aussie) is making his pro boxing debut at the age of 40 in Brisbane next month.
Probably about as much as he would get for a week's work as a clerk.yid14 wrote:But how much would he get paid for fighting a 4 rounder against another novice?
Alot of hours to put in the gym so wont be worth much an hour to him.Brute wrote:He would have to make more than $26 per hour to earn that $1000 a week. Australian minimum wage is $15 per hour.
His Test career was very short, only four matches. A lot of the Tatts crowd would not remember him.Da Voice wrote:Tattersals Club old farts in dinner suits & all will be beside themselves when they see him in the ring.
I'm old, but unsure if old enough? If I am, I'd look ridiculous in black dinner suit.colin russell wrote:Da Voice your a member of the Tatts Club arnt you.
Thats good cause if your in it for the money your in the wrong game. Good luck to him.Totalpac wrote:Have chatted with him on Twitter. Nothing to do with the money, just loves the fight game.
As do Tatt's members once every year - Special event & they have good time.Totalpac wrote:Have chatted with him on Twitter. Nothing to do with the money, just loves the fight game.
Nobody gets a fortune for his first fight, unless he has an Olympic Gold Medal. If it comes to that, Ali, Frazier and Foreman all started in six rounders. 1956 Heavyweight Gold Medalist Pete Rademacher fought for the World title in his first pro fight but was KOed in six. Baby steps, folks.fox wrote:Alot of hours to put in the gym so wont be worth much an hour to him.Brute wrote:He would have to make more than $26 per hour to earn that $1000 a week. Unless he has had a big amateur career, he is gunna find it tough in the pros waiting till he is 40 to jump in but least he is having a go. He needs to be matched right and not thrown to the wolves at his age.Brute wrote:Nobody gets a fortune for his first fight, unless he has an Olympic Gold Medal. I wouldn't read too much into it that he is 0-2. Lost a majority decision to Callan Orchard and only stopped in the 4th to Phil Maley. Both pretty handy fighters there.Brute wrote:Blacka has not fought in nearly two years and has a 0-2 record, being stopped once. At least they have not thrown Hollioake in at the deep end.
