i think there is a fair chance of this happening. It's likely that Sharmba has other options. But this fight would certainly build his profile here whilst keeping sharp and in good shape, as he waits for Tszyu.

I can't see why this fight would happen. Magee's ultimate goal is a rematch with Hatton (or so it's been said), and I really don't see him beating Mitchell. Also, Mitchell has nothing to gain and everything to lose. It makes more sense for Sharmba to go after Vivian Harris who at least holds a "world" title or even Arturo Gatti who has the WBC belt.

That paper never gets anything right when it comes to Magee and boxing.

Must admit I am surprised Mitchell is willing to fight on the 3rd April, that's only just over a month after the struggle with N'dou.

How do they manage to get it so consistently wrong, remember the news that McCulloch was retiring? Or was that irish-boxing.com?

I cannot see what is in it for Sharmba, Magee isn't really a name in the division, and he has just beaten N'dou who has far more profile stateside.

Sounds like a load of crap to me, i cannot see what Mitchell possibly has to gain from fighting Magee, as Zhuge said he has nothing to gain and everything to lose. Say he comes to England and beats Magee then the American press will say "So what?" and if he comes over and loses then they will say "Wow, he lost to someone we never heard of called Magee" and bang goes the Tszyu fight. I think if it does go ahead it will be boring and a spoiler fight with two southpaws and lots of holding and tangling, with Mitchell winning a closeish decision. Magee showed he can handle the higher class fighters with his displays against Hatton and Urkal and will nt allow Mitchell to have it all his own way. But i would be surprised if this fight did take place to be honest.

Is Magee not now plying his trade at Welterweight then?
