On Sky text a couple of weeks ago, the headline read "Lewis to lose WBO title".
It went on to explain how the if he didn't agree a Klit match, he'd be stripped of his WBO world heavyweight title.

They're all at it really.

Sadly though, they're all alot better than the boxing columns ( if you can call them columns) in the Star, Sun etc

If they were in business as undertakers, people would stop dying.

its embarassing isn't it how can people learn more about the game when the people writing about it keep making stupid mistakes.

I checked the results on ceefax a couple of weeks ago, to learn that 'Sharmba Hunt' had beaten Lovemore N'Dou for the IBF light welterweight title. Retards.

Who the hell is responsible for this ineptitude.

I saw a terrible mistake somewhere the other day, forget where now, but it was something like the guardian online, where they were talking about how Calzaghe was moving up to cruiserweight to fight Glen Johnson....appalling.

The Beeb must read Boxrec, because they've just amended the mistakes. The picture still shows Stefano Zoff as opposed to Ariel Olveira, but beggars can't be choosers.

Having been a teacher for quite a few years, I've jacked it in to give journalism a proper go. One of the things keeping me going is knowing that, in comparison with most 'sports' journalists - even on the nationals - no, ESPECIALLY on the nationals, I have much more knowledge than they do.

Non-specialists are bound to make mistakes in boxing as the sport is so disorderly in many aspects but these people are PAID to do a good job and many do not.

I met Mr McDonnell (regular poster on here) last week who told me a little gem regarding Colin Hart from The Sun which I hope he doesn't mind me relating here...James was at the pre-fight press conference for Hatton-Tackie and Hart came in. The man on the six-figure salary asked the man who is getting fornicate all "So what's this Tackie like then?" or words to that effect. It beggers belief.

I went to the post-fight press conference. Quietly spoken David Barnes was trying to answer a few questions from journalists and about half a dozen from the nationals were there about three feet away from the lad and talking loudly, so loudly we couldn't hear Barnes and FW had to politely ask for quiet. Hart stood with his back to Barnes and continued to hold court. He was an ignorant twat.

As soon as Hatton came out, they switched on and Hart asked the searching question "Did your nutritionist know you were in McDonalds this afternoon, Ricky?" laughing loudly at his own wit. Ricky, charming to a fault after 12 tough rounds, must have been thinking 'Is this the best the boxing writer on Britain's best selling daily can come up with?'. I know I was. Anyway, as always, Ricky laughed it off and Hart proceeded to fornicate off. Shambolic and an eye-opener for me.

In saying that, I do applaud the BBC generally for upping the coverage of our sport.

Sadly , Ian"Mr"McNeilly, your excellent post doesn't surprise me. Colin Hart is lost in a boxing time warp.

Yeah great post Ian, Hart has always struck me as a no nothing fat cat and this just confirms it. Although Kevin Garside is just as bad, he just sits in his SKY chair looking smug and chuckling at his stupid puns and metaphors. Dick head!

When Hart, Rawling and Maloney were on the Jonathan Pearce show the other night Hart said "If i was a Boxing manager i would not have Matt Skelton fighting for a British title" and Maloney replied "Well it's a good job your not a Boxing manager then Colin!" My thoughts entirely.
