Well done Angie. 1 Oz title & 4 State...I guess you are true & true ANBF supporter :D
Hopefully, in time, promoters around OZ will realize, belting the shite out of hapless import for some useless regional shite belt doesn't put bums on seats :P

The only persons that benefit outta that shite...is their respective junket boys., who are generally too lazy to do honest day's work to earn an honest quid.

I agree awesome to see the local state titles being fought for, as well as the national title! Im hoping and trying to push for the same thing in NZ, the NZPBA have started the Regional titles here again for Auckland Region Title can be fought for over 8 rounds, and the SBW fight has created interest in the national title here again which is good with Gunnar Jackson Vs Kashif Mumtaz for the NZPBA Super-Middleweight Title next weekend.

The Aussie Title, Good to see it on TV. It just amazes me the matchups for it.

I wish it was being held by THE BEST FIGHTER IN THE WEIGHT DIVISION. It seems to me its just sold off to whoever wants it. (As long as its on TV).

very well said ,matchups and ratings have been a joke for years, boys have climbed the ladder knocking nobodies out,and not fighting any local boy, the whole system needs a shakeup, from the top, officials are getting money for nothing, all the best :TU:

What also amazes me, Is Anton you have a dig at Regionals, Yet the Aussie Title is being flogged off to whoever wants it and you never say a word. Its double standards on your part.

It's Shaick's voluntary defence & Nwaiwu is rated #11. However, that wasn't the plan. He was gonna defend against Van Nimwegen, because other super middys weren't available or are regional title holders. When he pulled out, Angie tried to get the bloke that fought Sherro in Townsville, but was unsuccessful. Nwaiw's trainer called Angelo & he agreed to put him on. What other option did he have?
With pre sold tix & tables, it ain't easy......not to mention unwise to pull the plug on star attraction @ short notice.

is there a ruling that regional title holders cant hold an aussie belt, or is it just for promotional benifit, i thought fighters would be proud to hold the aussie title and beat the best to get there, anyway good luck to Nwaiwu there,s allways a chance while he,s on his feet, all the best

To tell you axact resaon why, I'll have to dive into ANBF AGM's mintues. At the time, I was a member of ANBF ratings committee & we figured it was best to distance ourselves from regional bodies 'cos they were sanctioning anything & everything for a $$$$$.......and stil, do so

An the anbf dosnt ?

The main event tonight shouldn't have been sanctioned. The fight could have gone ahead without the belt being on the line. Why should promoter have to pay, its no different to a regional title .

can you hold the Commonwealth & Australian title at the same time? Because I'm pretty sure you can hold the British title & Commonwealth at the same time.

The Australian title is a good title but they have there favorite boxers & promotors, & the reason there is so many titles in boxing is because of people playing favorites.

the $$ sign would probably appear in the minutes, beneficial to both parties, but by splitting the titles means the holder of the title is not necessarialy the best in the land, the only winners are the promoters and the officials, than i suppose you can stage your own fight and make sure you don,t bring someone out to beat you, what sort of money would they charge to promote the ?title of antartica or isn,t that under their jurisdiction,we have two jokes up here on the 18,5,12, it can only get worse. all the best

Unfortunately Regional bodies ain't what the intended to be. As long as they get their sanction dollar, they could't give a shite who's in the ring

How is the ANBF any diffrent to the Regional bodies then Anton, The fight last night proves your point. It was sanctioned for the Aussie title, When the fight could have just gone ahead without having the belt on the line. But if it wasnt sanctioned, then the ANBF wouldnt have got there sanction fee's.

No one at home watching gives a shit whether there is a belt on the line.

If a boxer is rated, then he's eligible to contest the title. If you think Friday shouldn't be rated, take it up with ANBF

Here is one of the reasons why Australian & Regional titles had to be split
http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Fight:153113

Purse negotiations was also a problem, when challenger only challenged the Oz title
