What was the first fight to be held in the super-middle division, i.e 168lbs?
Not neccessarily a title fight... Think I might have to post this where martin can see it too.

It wouldn't really be a division until there was a title fight. Thousands of Light Heavy fights took place where the fighters weighed between 161-168. So I think the answer is Park/Sutherland.

If youre insistent on your mentioned parameters, I cant really help you, but I think Saad's point is quite worth considering.

I think Murray Sutherland was the first 168 lb titleholder although I could be slightly wrong

According to Cyberboxingzone Billy "Dynamite" Douglas fought for the Junior Light Heavyweight title in a fight sponsored by the Columbus, Ohio Boxing Commission in 1974 but the fight was made at 167lbs and Jerry Halstead fought for the WAA Supermiddle title at 168lbs in 1982.

I know this is not quite what you asked but Bob Fitzsimmons fought Gorge Gardiner for the LHW (made at 170lbs) with both men weighing 168lb in 1903.

If you are talking about fights predating 1974 made at a limit of 168lbs if there are any I would bet they happened in the UK or Ireland, 168lbs being 12 stone.
