Mitchell pricing himself out of Burns fight

According to Fwank the only hurdle in making the fight is Money Mitchell's financial demands, he reckons he desrves more than the champion. Sounds to me like somebody's looking for a way out!

He might want more than the champion is being offered but that doesn't mean he wants more than the champion, there is a difference. Perhaps he just has higher values for himself (and probably for Burns) than Burns does. He's not going to demand that Burns gets more, is he?
You could say it another way, and insinuate that Burns is happy to take pennies and Frank is trying to force Mitchells hand to do the same.
I'm not privvy to any inside info on this, but I just need a little more evidence than Frank making a typically self-serving dig at the lad.

Yeah I thought this as well. Burns gets fairly regular fights which might account for some of this? Mitchell may well find himself being offered less than he was for the Murray fight?
Of course none of my opinion has any actual foundation

It's a big domestic fight, if it goes mandatory I'm sure if possible, a few promoters will throw their hat into the ring.

I take it he needs to leave Allegedly then? I seem to remember Kevin doing this before not too long ago . It's either he's being offered 'eff all or he over values himself, I reckon a bit of both but leaning towards Fwank shafting him a little. Fook all evidence of that as it's just a feeling.

Mitchell should take the title shot and 35% and stfu.
to think he deserves more than burns is ridiculous, Burns won the title when he took Katsidis to pieces... how did mitchell do when he faught micheal?

35% of what figure though?
I'm predicting burns-Mitchell would be a totally different fight than Mitchell-Katsidis. Burns is hardly going to blow Kevin away. Using your logic, Mitchell beat johansson and johansson beat burns so.....

indeed, that was a stupid post.
And i never have and never will buy into the triangle theory.
I was just annoyed because i think it's arrogance on Mitchells part. Even though their respective performance against Kat won't really give weight to the outcome of this particular fight, Mitchell needs to recognise Burns is a world champion after beating Kat. Mitchell had his chance vs Kat for a (interim) world title like Burns did, but he got stopped inside 3.
hes not holding any of the cards for this fight, and where exactly does he go if he doesn't land a title fight agaisnt burns?
if he fights any of the top 10 they are just as tough, if not tougher, and less reward.

If Mitchell is confident surely...taking the short end then using the title to propel himself into bigger fights is a smarter idea than turning this fight down

He may feel he can achieve the end goal without pulling his pants down en route.
He may feel there are others who can help him do that.

Id imagine Mitchell thinks he brings more money to the table if the fight is held at Upton Park but im not so sure Mitchell would sell the same amount as the Kats fight.

He's in no position to dictate terms, he should be creaming his pants that he's in line for a title shot.
If he bottles out Burns will move on without him and its far from certain he'll ever get another chance at a title. WBU, IBO, IBC...................... maybe!

What people are forgetting Kevin needs Ricky not the other way around,Kevin is acting as if hes the CHAMP and making demands, more money the fight in london well that wont be happening full stop, earn the right to fight for the world title Ricky and many other fighters have so should Kevin.
I know a boxer who got 7k to fight for a world title but a least he took the chance.
ITS ONLY A GET OUT CLAUSE IMO

I think some, well myself at least, are trying to look at it neutrally, which is a position you're obviously not going to be able to take. Ricky wasn't knocking down world beaters before the Martinez fight, I'd say Mitchell's standing is higher now than Burns was at that time (yes, despite the Katsidis defeat). Of course Mitchell isn't a truly valid world title contender, neither was Burns when he won his first world title.
I'm not knocking Ricky in any way shape or form, he's a top lad and I hope he gets what he should financially. I'm full of admiration for the way he (and you) turned his career around and long may it continue. I just don't think its your place to dictate what Mitchell should/shouldn't accept financially. Its easy to say he's looking for a way out, but lets look a little deeper.... weren't these same noises from both Frank and Kevin made before the Murray fight?? Didn't it take ages to agree a deal?? They got there, the rest is history. Some said Burns went up a weight to avoid a fight and you were quite adamant he wasn't avoiding anyone, so its unfair to accuse Mitchell of the same.
Mitchell is no way ducking Burns mate, no way.
P.S. To clarify, I have no loyalties in this one, I'd love to see the fight and would just hope the best man wins.

I can assure you what Kevins wanting to challenge for a world title is massive in comparison to what Ricky got to challenge for it (SFW),now i cant see any diffrence here, kevin hasnt done anything in his carrer to date to justify demanding silly money has he? In fact hes best know for his loss to Katsitas and a win against John Murray whos proven not to be world class (but a very exciting fighter)

Sorry Billy, but Ricky appears an easy going guy, not one to rock the boat, one grateful for the position he is in. That's how it looks from the outside. Because Mitchell isn't exactly the same doesn’t make him a bad person. No he doesn't deserve silly money, but nor does he deserve an offer which isn't fair, and if he's prepared to stand his ground for that then it would be admirable to some.
Best known for Katsidis loss? Perhaps, but does it matter?
I often use my brother as an example of Joe Public. He is a football man mainly, loves a lot of other sports too. He watches the really big fights, and goes to about one big show a year. He knows of Kevin Mitchell, he remembers that he has a less talented brother and that they were marketed as the ‘Mitchell brothers’, he knows Mitchell is a little controversial out of the ring of late, he says Mitchell seems to have been around for ages.
He knows Ricky Burn because he was at a Celtic match when Burns was paraded around the pitch. He was surprised to hear that Ricky has one of the big four belts. Even now, he was surprised to hear that! He can’t remember having seen him fight.
We can twist these things back and forth all day, but lets not. Let’s hope Ricky gets a fair offer, Mitchell gets a fair (but lower) offer, and that they fight and it is a good as Mitchell-Murray’s was.

Aye, as I say, it's a fight I'd love to see.
Either of Mitchell/Burns against Rees also floats my boat as a fallback.
Good luck mate

Occassionally a not so deserving fighter gets a shot at a world title (insert Mitchell's name here). He should be thanking his lucky stars and should be more than resdy to make consessions if neccessary as the chance wont likely come again. Mitchell comes across as the type who probably over-values himself, and my gut feeling is deeep inside he knows he's in for a schooling if he takes the fight. Burns will have his number, no doubt in my mind about it. If Mitchell fancied it he'd take the best offer he could get and get on with the job, but somehow i dont see him sharing a ring with Burns anytime soon. We'll see.........

Noticed you were in Rees corner Billy any chance of him and Ricky if the Mitchell fight falls through?

i think franks prob sick to the back teeth of all the trouble mitchell has brought to his door. i always thought that frank was fair and indulged kevin up to katsidis.
