Another entertaining scrap between two all-time lightweights. Both of them would not give a backward step and would be throwing lots of leather. Both had tremendous endurance, will and determination. Who wins?

Duran KO1*

*Unless hes over-weight, under-trained, partied too hard, has some unexpected bowel movements, or just plain isnt as good as Armstrong (I like this last excuse best, myself).

Pending all of that, no one beats Duran.

In a nutshell: I'd favour Duran based on skill. I'd have no issue with others favouring Armstrong based on strength/workrate.

It'd be a very close, fiercely contested fight either way.

This bout is going to come down to conditioning plain and simple, and no-one out-conditions Armstrong.

I like Duran in an insane war. Hank's face would be torn to shreds.

I like Duran here. Duran's stamina wouldn't let him down even against Armstrong and his sharper skills would allow him to score more rounds.

It would be a war for sure, but Duran can't show Armstrong anything he hasn't already seen in his career. Henry won't fade in the second half like DeJesus, and he won't wait to get hit in the nutcup either. Armstrong wins a very hard fought battle something like 8-5-2.

Duran upper-body strength and counterpunching abilities, at his very best, puts lots of dents in Armstrong's face. I don't think Henry has fought someone as great as Duran. Duran was a very complete fighter in my view. And Armstrong's work rate and going forward would be a feast for Duran. Duran by late KO or UD. It would be a great fight, no doubt about it.

I like em both. Armstrong was great, and I think he's going to spend a fair amount of time looking down at the winning man's shoes in any hypothetical fight with Roberto at lightweight.

Hey either of them can be argued to be the best at that weight class. Maybe Duran won't show him anything fundamentally that he hasn't seen before, but I have the suspicion that the judges score cards would be shown to be more favorable to Roberto in a pretty brutal bruiser of a contest.

I would not however be willing to bet on my suspicion. I'd rather just watch and see and perhaps learn.

Armstrong happens to be one of mine. I think he beats Duran 4 out of five fights. His left hook was much busier than DeJesus'.

What didn't Henry Armstrong do better than DeJesus ?
