Im quite confident he would have, re-watching both men from around this time lately.

I think so too. Douglas put in a great performance on that night. It's a shame he could never do it again.

Nah, refer Hoylfield V Michael Dokes from 1989 and you'll see some of the very best of Holyfield which would have been too much for Buster. Somehow I could see Douglas being as motivated as he usually was, for Holyfield
p.s are you the prick that's going around shooting everyone in Sydney? :??

Yeah, let's just say if I was to do a racial profiling it'd be a case of..."the Lebs appear to be shooting lots of people". But I wouldn't say that lest I get accused of being racist

Holyfield was inconsistent. But his best beats Douglas's best 9 times out of 10.

No . . Douglas's performance in Tokyo is overblown b/c people percieved Tyson to be Superman.

Nope, he just beat Evander to Mike.

Yes, he would've dogwhipped Evan Fields and reign as lineal champion until being usurped by "The President" Ibeabuchi

No he wouldn't have beaten Holyfield, Tyson barely trained for one thing, Holyfield would've been in top notch condition and ready to give his best, and his best is too much for Douglas, always.

'Tokoyo' Douglas was a better fighter than people here are giving him credit for. That version of Douglas was better than any version of Bowe and although I agree to a point, that yes, because he beat Tyson, some may over inflate his performance. It cannot be denied that he displayed all the attirbutes of a genuinely great fighter. Heart, skill, speed, defence, offence, power, will to win. That version would be too much for 'Vander, in my opinion.

Agreed. I just dont like Holyfield against stick-and-move guys.

I'm not sure that version of Douglas was better than any version of Bowe?
Anyway I think Evander would have beaten that version of Douglas. Douglas did look brilliant in that fight against Mike but before that point I hadn't seen anybody really put anything on Mike. Credit to Buster for teeing off on Mike like no other but on the flip side Mike wasn't at the races either.

Would it make a difference to who wins out of Douglas and Holyfield?

To me, yes, I think he would have beaten the great Evander Holyfield. But, it is a toss up for me. I believe in a 3 fight series, with both at their very best and focused, Evander wins it 2 to 1.

My first instinct was no, but the more I think about it, the better chance I give Douglas. It's a shame that we only got to see him at that level just one time, with greater motivation and discipline he could have been a top 15 all-time heavyweight.
I don't think Douglas stops Holyfield like he does Tyson and if they go to the trenches and start brawling, I think Holyfield's better chin sees him through. As long as it stays a boxing match, Douglas would win rounds and could conceivably take a decision, although early 90s Holyfield was very quick and would cause Douglas some problems with his speed.
If pressed, I'll go for Holyfield by a close decision.

Douglas' fprm that night was motivated by 2 things...his mother recently dying and fighting a supposedly indestructible Tyson. I doubt his motivation would have been quite as high for Holyfield and it would have shown in his performance

If Holyfield had hypothetically already beaten Tyson I think it could've been, because Holy would've inherited much of Iron Mike's hype, in part because Evander himself was a popular guy with an exciting warrior-style.
