Richard Towers vs. Michael Wallisch

On June 16, Richard Towers will be fighting German prospect Michael Wallisch for the European Union heavyweight title (EBU-EU title). Winning this may be a step toward a shot at the European Heavyweight title.

Good fight , Good to see two unbeaten heavyweights squaring off , Cant really say how good wallische is as besides saglam i dont think theres much to his record , although saglam has beaten a lot of nobodies .
Ill go for a Towers win but wont go as far as a knockout prediction as i dont know enough about wallische other than the odd highlight here and there .

seems this one has been mooted for a while.
we still dont know enough about Towers yet
they must think a lot of him cos michael wallisch is an ok fighter from what ive seen
a v good matchup.

Towers is what, 32? he needs to be making fights happen now. I'd have liked to see him against Dallas tbh.

he hasntn boxed one decent name why has he got a title fight? put him in with dallas, hughes, butlins etc

Towers is very raw and I expect him to lose if Michael Wallisch is a decent European level fighter. I hope he proves me wrong.

some fighters, like price and skelton can break through into the big league with minimal fights and experience as a pro.
im guessing the same isnt the case with Towers.
the problem is Towers is being matched weakly and he isnt fighting regularly enough.
so a wallisch fight would be good at this stage....altho its a tough one.
personally id put Dallas, Towers and Howe and Cornish into a Prizefighter. thats way more useful than fighting stiffs occasionally over 24 months.

Hughes, yes, but hasn't Dallas been exposed enough for you yet? And Butlin? What would that prove? He's just a journeyman now.

He would mullah all of those, including Hughes - who has improved a lot, to be fair.

It is our biggest ever show in a short three year history and will feature four exciting title fights.
Topping the bill is an 'interim' WBA world super-bantamweight title fight Bury's Scott Quigg and Leicester's Rendall Munroe.
It is one of the biggest domestic clashes this year with British champion Quigg facing his toughest test ever against the former Commonwealth and European champion.
In the chief supportingbout Sheffield 'Spice Boy' Ryan Rhodes meets unbeaten Belarusian knockout artist Sergey Rabchenko for the vacant European light-middleweight title.
In a third title fight St Helens's Martin Murray defends his WBA inter-continental crown.
Undefeated Murray held WBA super champion Felix Sturm to a draw back in December, and was due to face WBC champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in June, but the fight was pulled because ofvisa problems.
Sheffield heavyweight hope Richard Towers bids for his first professional title when he comes up against another unbeaten fighter, Germany's Michael Wallisch for the vacant EU heavyweight crown.
The card will be broadcast live by Sky Sports.
Hatton Promotions CEO Ricky Hatton said: "This is Hatton Promotions most ambitious promotion so far, and shows that we have come a long way in a short space of time.
"All the fights are competitive and everybody at the venue and watching live on television will get a show they can remember.
"I am so excited about Scott's fight against Rendall. Scott is one of the best young boxer's in the world at Rendall is one of the 8st 10lb elite fighters.
"Ryan's fight against Rabchenko is between two world class operators and I have no doubt that thewinner will challenge for a world title.
"I am certain Martin Murray is going all the way and if he beats Studer I believe he will be made mandatory contender for the WBA crown.
"Richard Towers has done everything right and for a late starter to boxing deserves nothing but praise. By the end of 2012 he will be ready for Tyson Fury and David Price."
The rest of the undercard will be announced in the coming weeks, but will include some of the best young fighters from around Britain.

With age not on his side he has parallells with Skelton, hopefully he can get lots of fights in soon as Matt did. It's quite interesting with Towers, Price and Fury around for british heavies, nice to see

His defence is probably his main area to improve upon. I have seen him take a decent clip in a couple of his fights, including (from memory) a big left hook in his last one.
It did annoy him somewhat.
