The Interview with Piers Morgan last night pulled on the heart strings a little. Great ambassador to British Boxing.

It was a good interview I thought, He is in great shape physically, works out every day.

the interview was very moving but it was obviously very 'pro' frank, no mention of him 'clipping' his ex wife laura!

Piers Morgan didn't mind pushing the subject with Dennis Waterman, as a journalist I can't understand why he didn't also bring this up with Frank ...................

I saw the ads for this program and thought "No way am i watching that................."

Frank was excrutiating to watch in interviews when he was fighting !!

I've recorded it but I doubt I'll manage to watch it.

Spent a lot of time round Frank, surprisingly lacked confidence. But one of the nicest people I met in Boxing.

I remember that programme, it was called 'Celebrity Sleepover' over something similar, and I must say that I thought that Frank Bruno came over quite badly in it. It didn't seem contrived either. I seem to remember Frank getting particularly stroppy when it was suggested he try horse riding. All this wasn't long before his breakdown so maybe he was on the slide by then. I'm afraid he didn't come over very well though.

Yep that's the one , I find it unlikely that the master plan of the producers would be to advise Frank to be an arsehole when it would be far more to his benefit to turn out to be a nice bloke and win over more fans.

In his last book Frank talks strongly and bitterly about the way the red top papers used his name to sell millions of there product on the back of his success and popularity, and then quickly did the same through unfounded stories about his wife and by hounding him when he was ill with the "Bonkers Bruno" headlines level of journalism. As Piers Morgan was such a totemic figure of the self same type of journalism, the whole thing was hard to stomach. Anyone other than Peers Moron /to interview him please....

So good to see Frank looking well and sounding happy though.

Great man but he looked a shambles. His mannerisms and weird pained expressions made him look like a 79 year old not a 49-50 year old.
Someone close to him needs to tell him to pull himself together.
Ok so a bad woman was the breaking of him and of course the sad loss of George Franics and the fact he has lost Terry Lawless etc ..... why doesnt he find another good woman, im sure with his celebrity and long term popularity it shouldnt be that hard for him compared to the mere mortal. He has money why doesnt he travel, enjoy himself.

I dont know if his kids previously turned their backs on him and that contributed to the drug taking which led to the bipolar...My point is I have tremendous sympathy for Frank but its been ten years now of all this....... all I know is someone needs to tell him, stop slouching, sit straight, grow some hair on your head (so at least u look like the old Frank), get a normal dress sense, instead of that weird pink monstrosity he was wearing and just be well......normal..... i know i may sound old fashioned saying this...but many many people no longer know how to be normal like our parents and grandparents were in the 80s and 90s.....Frank should accept he did something not many people have been blessed to....he had a great long financially rewarding career in sports......he can no longer fight but he fought for 20 years, the detached retina ending his career at 34 story isnt a tragedy he was more or less done anyway.

He should look at Lennox, Hagler, others, listen to his mum and Nigel Benn and accept religion into his life to tell him what it is all about and just get on with his life and enjoy it instead of all this nonsense. People say its chemical schizophrenia but I dont beleive Frank was a schizo when he was boxing, all the drugs he took may have altered his mind cos thats why they call them mind altering drugs....but other chemicals can control it.......look at Tyson he seems at peace and is the picture of dignity and class and happiness these days long may it continue

I can't stand Morgan either but watche it nonetheless, it looks like I'm in the minority here but I though Frank was easy enough to watch during this interview?

Troll somewhere please. Its a forum, people express their opinions like I did with sincerity.
Apparently my suggestions of things which improve a persons life such as a good woman, religion, travelling, and medication for illness are objectionable??
perhaps you would like to offer some better advice.

i have one account and have been on this forum about seven years. just because i dont have umpteen thousand posts full of shit like yours, doesnt make me a newbie.
depression , mental illness, suicide, etc is quite a common problem throughout the history of boxing, and the strains and stresses imposed on boxers through boxing itself and the media dont get solved by throwing a bible at them and telling them to settle down with a good woman.if it was that easy it wouldnt have happened to smarter men than you.

So in other words you seem to resent my offering Frank some advice....advice Id point out his own mom and his own friend Nigel Benn offered him?? His mom and Nigel asked him to get involved in the church and find a good woman. You seem to have a misguided opinion that depressed,suicidal and mentally ill boxers are common or the norm after retirement.
Id say your a full of shit bum not living in the real world

Frank can't simply 'pull himself together' he is Bipolar, which is a lifelong condition. They figure he has been bipolar since his early teens (it often presents itself first during puberty), hence his troublesome and hyperactive phases as a juvenile. They also believe that the rigours of boxing gave him a routine which evened him out as he was too preoccupied with the sport.

His problems presented themselves in seriousness once he retired.

He will be on drugs for the rest of his life to try and counter the condition, and will, like most people who suffer from the condition, go through periods where he stops taking the drugs, and has lapses into severe bouts of depression/and or mania.

I only know this because I went out with someone who suffered from the same condition, and still does, this is precisely what happened to them periodically, coming of the medication because they wanted to feel normal - followed by a bad episode.

Frank didn't say anthing new, "ducking and diving" numerous times and he nearly said "black and decker" but obviously someone told him not to say it so he quickly stopped himself. He did look at Morgan like he wanted to knock him out before bursting into laughter, he looked a bit unstable and menacing to me.

Celebrity sleepover, Bruno was terrible, however, I didn't really like Beadle before he did it but loved him after it. It's an opportunity to show the public the real you, Bruno had big issues at that time and unfortunately looks like he still does.
