I'll be the first to admit that which trainer trained whom is at the bottom of my Boxing knowledge. I just happened to be thinking about George benton training Tex Cobb and it made me chuckle. What are some other odd pairings?

Would you consider Tyson and Atlas here as a viable choice?

Roberto Duran and Ray Arcel. Arcel was educated, cultured and well spoken. Duran was errr a bit different to that

They didn't even speak the same language

It was a great irony that Arcel spent years screaming at Duran, "No mas!" at the dinner table.

Emmanuel Steward and Jermain Taylor was a cosmic joke. Steward karate chopping him, Lewis, and Wlad Klitschko in the chest out of frustration has become a running joke with me.

Atlas and Povotkin for sure. Tyson was only marginally less sane than Atlas so maybe they were a great match?

Freddie Brown was as big a part of that corner as Arcel. Duran had sick wisdom around him.

Arcel and Brown were also a mismatch. It was all a bit bizarre the 3 of them but it seemed to work. I've read some quotes from Brown on the Leonard rematch, specifically about Duran not turning up to training. Brown's response was along the lines of "he don't wanna train? well fukk him then"

They had been down that road before.
