Yes Italy is the worst place to get a points victory, Germany seems like Heaven compared to Italy

Nothing corrupt about the last time a Brit went to Italy to challenge for some honours. Zoff got the decision he deserved against Burke. Also, Michael Hunter and Derek Roache scored wins that evening.

Perhaps, the public (internet and boxing TV people) scathing of recent "home" town decision (and we are as bad as anyone) - might slow down the rot. I personally thought that Woods vs Johnson II was closer than Woods vs Johnson I.

Eastman's had it easy in his pro career to date. Now, for the first time, he will really have to show his mettle. Beating Rob McCracken to secure a first world title shot is nowt compared to this.

I'm actually glad of this - I think this test is exactly what Howard needs. Its been well document that this opponent isn't the best Middleweight out there and had this been in Britain, Eastman would have had the same problems in preperation as he did for the Joppy experience, cause ability wise this guy is not as good as McCraken.

I always maintained that Eastman needs a Bridge between his current opposistion and the champions, this opponent is not an aduquate bridge IMO, but at least the enviiroment gives Eastman a test of sorts, because this is still a lot easier than Hopkins in Battersea.

I'm sure I read somewhere, that should Hopkins vacate the winner of this match takes on Taylor for the championship - don't quote me on that one, perhaps I'm wrong.

Eastmen for me is the Johnny Neslon of the middlewieght division in Britain and Europe.Maybe not the most exciting fighter to watch but he can fight and has ringcraft.
Plenty of european title fights to his credit regardless of what people think it is a highly regarded title by most of the governing bodies.

On the very day allegedly bids $6,500,000 for a fight, Mick Hennessy bids $200,000.

This is nothing to be worried about. If Eastman can't travel to Italy and beat up Sanavia badly, then there is absolutely no reason for him to even think about fighting Hopkins. Sanavia is not very good at all. He looked awful in his last fight against Algoet. For Christ sake, even Hakkar went to Italy and knocked Sanavia out.

I agree with Hellephant, let's not get carried away with Sanavia he is nothing special although Eastman may need to stop him to confirm a win as the judges will do him no favours at all. Hennessy winning the Witter purse bid but losing the Eastman one does seem strange but Eastman must feel like he is always fighting away from home anyway, it's not like he has many fans. If i had the cash and the time then i would go over myself, what is the date of this fight?

Shame Hennessy lots the purse bids, but I don't fear for Howard going to Italy, Sanavia is beatable and Howard is world class. Eastman is showing more of the urgency needed nowadays to get a win in places like Italy.

Howard must discover his killer instinct to win in places like Italy, that was what stopped him beating Joppy the fact he was too busy dancing and clowning around instead of throwing punches against a beatable opponent. Sanavia is nothing special but home advantage will give him the edge, if he can stay on his feet he will probably win. Eastman needs urgency and sharpness and he can remove this guy within 8 rounds IMO, a win may also carry some benefits in America seen as Jermain Taylor was touted to meet Sanavia at some time soon, a convincing win could raise some eyebrows across the pond.
