Dean Byrne was taking too much punishment and at the time getting hit with everything, when trapped on the ropes and hurt, his corner threw in the towel to save him from further punishment, the towel seemed to hit Holmes on the back of the leg who quickly turned to enjoy victory, then both corners jumped in the ring and quickly jumped back out after the ref threw the towel back out, then while Holmes waving to his fans he was attacked from behind by Byrne and forced to cover up, crazy situation, what a mixup.

Would the ref had thrown the towel back if it had been the other way round ? Doubt it .

The corners should not enter the ring during the fight, disqualification ?

Dean Byrne thought the towel was thrown in for Holmes, what was he thinking ? Byrne was being hit with everything and his head was being snapped back repeatedly, whilst trapped on the ropes and Byrne claims he was in control whilst being hit with everything. Unfortunately Dean Byrne defense is nonexistent and he has serious damage written all over him, needs protecting for his own good before he gets badly hurt someday. The boxer is always the last one to see it.

I read an artical in whitch byrne was quoted of saying he would look for another job if he lost. I know what your are saying about his defence but he had only lost once befor this fight surely he isn't on the scrap heap yet and surely he can work on his defence a bit early to throw in the towel excuse the pun DD

Lets be honest Dean Byrne was in there with a novice who had only done 4 rounders, he should not be having wars with fighters who have a lot less experience then him, I do feel he he was used as cannon fodder at the wild card in sparring and it has slowed his reactions down, he just does not move out of range quickly enough, so gets hit easily, not saying he is finished yet, but he can't keep taking punishment like that, I mean imagine what would happen if he fought a big puncher, being tough can be dangerous for yourself sometimes.

Thats the 3rd fight now on BN & he has lost 2 & wasnt convincing in the other. I was expecting better things when I read that he was at Wildcard & boxed in Australia. Poor defence & no punch if I am brutally honest I struggle to see where he got his winning record from.

After the fight he came to speak to two people in front of me. He sounded and acted disorientated, about an hour after his fight! However, my judgement of him is this.

Terry Holmes had a lot of promise.

Patience, come forward counter-puncher with a lovely short left hook on the inside. Looked very solid at the weight. I liked him a lot.

Bryne was too open, his hands weren't fast enough and Holmes timed him repeatedly. And Bryne spent a lot of time NOT throwing the jab once he knew Holmes would make him pay when he did.

Bob Williams did okay, though it a brave man that throws a towel out.

However, in the ref's preceding contest he let Evangalou hold too much when the bean-pole opponent had him all over the place.

Disqualification possibly. Look what happened in the Kirkland-Molina fight recently. Byrne was taking some flush shots. How ironic was it that Graham Earl was there to witness a ref kick the towel out.

I thought Holmes looked half decent,im sure hes been on allegedly before?
Byrne seems to have found his level&his career seems on a downward spiral...

I have always thought he was punch drunk, when I have seen his interviews, that could explain his slowed reaction at times, I know he has commented in the past on how hard the sparring was at wild card with the likes of Pacman, Amir Khan ect.
