Watched Barrera-Morales 1 today, with the american commentary. First time i saw the fight was on sky sports, with Ian Darke and Glenn McCrory commentating. It is the greatest fight i have ever seen and the reason i am such a big boxing fan. I dont have the sky version of that fight, although i do have 25 min highlights of the fight (shown before Naz-Barrera), and have watched it many times.

When watching the american version today, it wasn't so fun. Sure it still came across as a great fight, commentary can only influence the entertainment so much. I feel that Glenn and Ian are far more enthusiastic, and because they dont go to these big american cards as the HBO team, were probably more excited themselves and it certainly translated.

I think we need to appreciate that they are the best commentary team around. of course there are times yiu may disagree with them, but you only really appreciate what a great job they do, when you listen to a fight called by other people.

Glen McCory was very excited watching DLH vs Chavez II. I agree with your words Adam, we do take them for granted. Gill Clancy is my favourite commentator though.

Those HBO guys like jim lampley and crew are awful, just so stagnant and overly reliant on statistics and punch stats etc.

ian darke is excellent, but glen mccrory is a bumbling buffoon.

bring back the articulate and educated (and way more accomplished) gary mason.

mccrorys a shill who agrees with everything hes told, gary mason would pull people up on points, and had an awesome style.

check his commentary on fights such as holyfield-douglas, holyfield-mercer, and even ruddock-greg page. superb.

BBC- BRING BACK YOUR MAN GARY MASON!!

Ian Darke is a great commentator, Glenn McCrory just agrees with everything he says and his favourite saying is "That's right Ian..." How many times does he start a sentence with that phrase?! The HBO guys are stale Overhand, all they do is babble out stats and Harold Lederman sounds like Cliff from Cheers. All you get from Jim Lampley is stuff like "Going through round 2 Jones has landed 16 shots to the body from 24 jabs including 10 power shots compared to Smith's 15 body jabs from 18 power shots...." Blah blah fornicating blah.

Oh and dont forget Larry Merchant stumbling through his drawn out questions like Godfrey from Dad's Army :D "So......Bernard.....you won....i ask you....what....is my name?" Yawn!
