I must be getting bored with boxing. Someone put a link up for the Haye vs Chisora fight which i only found out about today. I put the link on and started to watch the press conference. I began to watch FW describe the legalities of the fight and i started to get bored, so i fast forward to the fighters saying their piece and got even more bored. I ended up watching five minutes of a twenty-five minute link. I then watched a short interview with Chisora and another one with Haye and that was roughly the same, i cut both short. Haye failed to give any authentic reasons why he is facing Chisora and i clicked the Chisora interview to see if he said something original..............He didn't.

Is anyone really interested in this fight ? We all know what will happen, Haye will knock out Chisora with three to five rounds, then what ? This fight doesn't lead anywhere. Chisora is just an average domestic heavyweight and Haye can only gain if he fights Vitali or gets a re-match with Wlad, both of whic are unlikely to happen. I thought Haye had retired ? He kept bleating on about that date in October. Then he said he would only come out of retirement for Vitali and now he is fighting Chisora, so it must only be about money. He obviously sees Chisora as a rollover fight that could unlock the gates to a showdown with Vitali, i can't see any other possible reason.

Haye has proved that he is good enough to beat most heavyweights out there and that is mainly through his power and speed, but the Wlad fight proved that he isn't big enough to take on Vitali. The same outcome would happen against Vitali as it did with Wlad, so Haye has reached his limit. Some are mentioning that Vitali's manager sees the Chisora fight as a rubber stamp for Haye to fight Vitali, but why ? Chisora is game, but he lost by a landslide against Vitali. Maybe Haye will get his fight with Vitali and if he did win would look for a re-match with Wlad. I am kind of underwhelmed by this fight, i don't feel the same sense of excitement that i have done over Haye fights in the past.

But...................I may still tune in to see Chisora get flattened

the fight is only deemed marketable since the incident in germany.....Haye wouldn't have fought chisora before that because it would have been quite a big step downwards, and I doubt there would have been a market for it

How could you say that the mighty Dereck Chisora is an average fighter?

Don't you realise he is world class, with stamina on a par with Henry Armstrong & a better chin than George Chuvalo's; didn't lose against Helenius (who is also world class) & nearly beat Vitali too; plus he's lost 20lbs since the Fury fight?

Quixall, I totally share your apathy for the sport of boxing these days.

But I would probably disagree about the result being so certain. I think Haye and Chisora are well matched. Ideally Derek could have done with another year and 3-4 fights in a good traning camp to mature. I think he has a lot more potential than he has shown so far ...for all his vulgarities.

I think this is a very interesting heavyweight fight, and I'm not even British.

Other than boxing journalists who have a responsibility to report on such things, a person has to be, at the very least, a touch moronic to get any real enjoyment out of watching a boxing press conference. They're all base, they're all shit but they serve a purpose i.e. they help shift tickets to morons and below. That you couldn't sit through the entire Haye/Chisora conference doesn't mean you're necessarily bored with boxing per se, it just means you're above watching tripe-hype.

I think the one thing that Derek does have is a lot of heart and a good chin, he proved that against Vitali. Those two things alone could make it a more interesting fight. I do hope that it goes past four or five rounds, because if it does i wouldn't say that Chisora will win, but it makes things a whole lot more interesting. I personally think that Haye will have too punch power for Chisora, though he may look slightly clumsy in beating him, because he just doesn't fight often enough to have any level of consistency in his timing etc.

Yes, i think i will watch this fight after all

I suppose it's based on the fact that he has knocked out most of his opponents and certainly at heavyweight. The only guy that Haye didn't stop was Wlad, so it's perhaps odds on that Chisora will get stopped too.

Does anyone expect this to be a good fight? Given Chisora iron chin, will Haye try to stop him early and risk gassing , or just box his head off (boring) I am expecting this to be a average fight, the build up will be better.

For what it's worth, i predict that Haye will stop Chisora inside the first six rounds.

I just hope we don't have any toe problems from Haye. He always seems to have an injury going into a fight and then says to everyone afterwards, " I nearly pulled out of this fight......." or " I wasn't 100%, i got an injury that prevented me from doing X, Y, Z....." Blah de blah.

I think this fight has taken a lot of power away from the Board. It effectively means that it's sanctions are useless and that fights can still be staged, abeit without any titles at stake, which are virtually meaningless anyway. Comparing this to the days of Lewis is like comparing classical Greece to the dark ages 8)

This is the top 2 heavyweights in Britain squaring off. The previous controversy aside, I can't see why anyone would have a problem with this match up. If they were contesting a vacant "world" title belt then I could understand the negative reaction.

You don't seem to understand that Haye fought cautious vs Valuev and Wlad because they are taller, heavier and outreach him by huge amounts....? He knew he couldn't hurt Valuev, and rightly or wrongly he didn't want to engage with/get tagged by Wlad.

This one is clearly going to be bombs away a la Ruiz/Barrett, there is no reason for thinking otherwise.

I loved FW trying to justify it by giving examples of Mayweather on a charge whilst fighting, he also cited John Terry and someone else. So that's ok then.......
