Thanks all. I can't fault Simon Block for being generous with his time in answering the questions put forward and he provided some welcome insight which I appreciated. The consensus view seems to be that he did a good job as General Secretary. My only gripe with his reign is that he didn't do more to kick the likes of the WBU and WBF into touch.

Aye, I'm sick of hearing it, commonly held or not. It's a load of bollocks - no inside track needed. The BBBoC told them to do one recently and, as Ben says, should have said this much earlier.

It may end up being a godsend.

Like most British sporting controlling bodies they look after their own interest first are full of politicians and sod the consequences, they are toothless and pointless imo. Time to look at restructuring boxing and this could be a start.

They did it recently in Rugby high time for boxing also.

Get some real men in there who know the sport and know how it runs not political figureh eads that posture and tut dissapporvingly

To be fair numerous BBBofC officials/stewards are ex boxers, managers, trainers etc. The chief executive (aka General Secretary) Robert Smith was a professional boxer himself and boxed against Lloyd Honeyghan (You can see him in action here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DB0MchAuwpg)

There is no doubt that the board has countless individuals who know the sport inside out.

Behind this was the fact that it's so cack, different people were saying they owned the body. Someone got in touch with me about the dispute well before this but it just wasn't worth the bother looking into it.

The WBU, WBF or whoever can get people to fight for their belt in Britain - just not sanctioned by the BBBoC. And if it's a 'world' belt, surely they've got another 200+ countries to choose from.

A similar scenario. Some idiot goes up to the FA and says 'I want to start another World/FA/League Cup' and they say 'That's very interesting...but we want nothing to do with it, thank you.' It doesn't stop the idiot starting it up. How far do you think his 'restraint of trade' case would get?

I see in Gareth Davies' piece just published on the Telegraph website that Al Legedly has told the Board he's getting his lawyers in over their statement, specifically about licence holders and potential sanctions, etc. I'm shocked.

Yep, perhaps costs need another look at.

Small hall promoters could help themselves by making it a better night out for fans, though. I've been to loads and I don't think I've ever seen something as simple as a copied A4 sheet of paper freely available with the list of fights on and their estimated start times.

So I've seen many, many uninformed pissed off fans roll up at the start time of a show (they rarely start on time) and sit through a bill which they're not particularly interested in to see their neighbour/mate/mate's son box at 10.45 or whatever. The cost would be next to nowt and it would really help.

Or even a double-sided A4 mini-programme notes with the records, etc. I know this has f**k all to do with the topic, I'm just saying
