Just watched him knock out the overmatched Japanese on allegedly. He still looks like he might be the best 160 pounder in the world, but with him blowing out palookas in the back waters and almost 30, we might never find out. Promotional problems are holding him back, but hopefully Dr Iron fist can grab hold of his career and fast track him to the big time.
He's a lights out puncher and would probably put an end to Felix Strum, if he gets the chance. Great amateur, so he knows how to box too.

Badly needs to step it up, get in with an American promoter or something. Clearly talented and a big banger but no opposition. That was a bad match tonight really.

I thought Golovkin carried him until the third, that opponent was shocking. But, Golovkin looks the real deal, it would be a real shame if he doesnt get matched against the best in his division.

I'm pretty sure he's been Sturm's mandatory for the last 2 years and Sturm has done his best to avoid him. I think Sturm has to fight Golovkin next or be stripped of his title. I'm sure Sturm will try greasing palms with WBA to avoid it but Golovkin is with the Klits so they may have some pull. If it does happen Sturm's reign will be over.

The whole Klitschko Promotions things seems like a hobby to me. Do they really invest a great deal of time in trying to nurture these fighters and/or put pressure on the sanctioning bodies to get the title shots?

Instead we get served up with IBO title fare. An unknown Japanese dude with six losses being dished up for Golovkin. The Klitschkos' main priorty is obviously their own careers first and foremost which is fair enough, but I wouldn't be in a rush to sign with them if I was half decent.

I think he looks exceptional. So relaxed - he makes it look effortless. Wonderful balance too, just the way he shapes up is impressive. He was meeting media at the Martinez / Macklin fight recently, getting a push in NYC by K2. Seemed a very personable character, could be a major star.

Liked the way he moved and threw his shots last night.

Stupidly, I thought he was the WBA champion until I realised that Sturm was the 'Super Champ'. How the casual fan can understand Champion status is beyond me.

He's a class boxer, but the challenger was shocking last night. He needs to be fighting better opponents

I think he beats Martinez also. I think Martinez is starting to show his age a bit more now.

I think he does too Stu, just not all that comfortably. He would take apart anyone below Sergio with minimal fuss.

I like the look of Pirog as well - middleweight would be a really tasty division at the moment if they could sort out the farce with the different 'champions'...

Vitali makes a good guest appearance - makes Golovkin look like a little boy!

Golovkin is the biznez, but as mentioned at 30 he's no spring chicken and needs the big boys now or he'll miss the boat. Sadly, I think like many lesser known fighters, he'll get his chance at the bigtime when he's past his prime. Him knocking out Bute was special, especially with those big gloves. Hope Frochy does the same next week

Im not convinced by Golovkin yet, i think someone with good movement and boxing skill would give him a lot of trouble. He's not exactly the most nimble fighter on his feet, nor does he bring a lot of activity in a fight. I can imagine Martinez boxing rings around him should they ever fight. Hes still got that huge one punch ko power though, so you could never count him out in any fight.

That Japanese fighter had no place fighting for any kind of world title, they're lucky he didn't get hurt worse.
