Is the great man there at the moment? my son has just come back from 5 days there and says he bumped into Tyson one evening, without any minders!

He was in Pontefract two weeks ago and easy to get a chat with him.

i describe him as great due to his inside ring qualities not his outside ones, he is quite simply , at his peak, the most devastating puncher i have ever seen. he always gave away weight to his opponents, but was able to take them out with a single shot in a single second, simply awesome.

i dont get star struck , there all just regular guys ,

But if there was one guy who i really would love to sit and have a chat with over a pint then Mike Tyson would be that man , Hes the guy who who got me interested in boxing originally , and considering how boxing has gone on to be a main part of my life nowdays i think it would be a great honour , still wouldnt want to piss him off though no matter how much hes supposedly changed .

TBF, Tyson was more of a combination KO artist rather than a one puch KO artist, although Francois Botha might tell me otherwise. :P

I remember our school assembly the Monday after Tyson won the world title - our head of year lauded him as an example of what could be achieved through hard work and dedication. Kinda makes me chuckle all these years later. Aside from his out of the ring problems, he was one of the most exciting fighters I've ever watched - I really miss those days, nothing like it since imo.

TBF, Tyson was more of a combination KO artist rather than a one puch KO artist, although Francois Botha might tell me otherwise. :P

and Larry Holmes..... and Trevor Berbick...and about 15 others!!

To be fair, your head of year was right. There is no shortcut to becoming a genuine bonafide world boxing champion.

Really.... perhaps age is playing up on me - but I'm sure Tyson caught him with a single shot after a clinch and Berbick did his breakdance impression.
