I would vote for Newsboy over him.

but....Wills by now has nearly "pop" recognition. And it's called the hall of fame.....not the hall of skill.

So I just expected more people would vote his way.

On the plus side....Pryor was denied his seat for at least one more ballot count.

Buzz, why specifically don't you think Pryor should be in?

I think Pryor should get in eventually, but I held my vote b/c there are other less famous guys who deserve to get in. Pryor will get in eventually and most likely in the election. I almost didn't vote for Holmes for the same reason, but as he's a clear top 10 all-time HW he deserves to be there.

Alp...

in my humble opinion.

Pryor and his managers caught and rode a massive run of good luck and fluke circumstances. Oh , and they conducted a few very controlled experiments. And he then dropped out of His prime at a historically fast pace.

I'm not sure there was enough "there" there. I lived very close to cincinatti and caught a lot of his early fights live. I got a kick out of his impact on the sport. I believe he is the Chauncey Gardner (Being There) of boxing.

Cervantes in his prime would have notched him.

There are just too many more deserving fighters, by 2023, or so, Aaron will be on my list.

I am not sure I understand all of this; but for one thing it seems that you were not impressed by his earlier fights that you got to see live and I a gather you were not that impressed. I think you have to take into consideration that he was improved a lot as he got experience.

Don't know about the run of good luck and "controlled expieriments." Are you saying he didn't fight good competition? To some extent, I would go a long with that. He could have fought Curry, Mamby and costello. However he did beat Argeullo twice in great fights. Yes, Cervantes was past his best, but he was still a good fighter, and Pryor blew him out. He was 11-0 in title fights with 9 kos. You think Cervantes was better and that is fair enough. However, there are 120 fighters in our Hall of Fame. Do you really think there are that many better than Pryor?

I think you may be too close to the situation and aren't being fair to Pryor.

I don't think he is going to get voted in anytime soon. He only got 4 out of 9 votes; and that is about how he has done in the last several elections. I know what you are saying about some fighters getting more attention that other. I just think people should just vote for for whover I think is the best regardless of how much attention they get or whether they like a fighter or not.
