Skelton in JUly would be good. Another fight quickly. Then move on in September.

Skelton is a step sideways not back.

Price is ready for a step up.

if hes in the ring again quickly then id have no prob with it being Skelton , but if hes to move up the rankings id say Airich as Price would in my view have no trouble with him yet hes getting a bit of a run together of late .

But if it was more a case of who id like to see him go in with next then id say Mike Perez , as he brings his unbeaten record to the table and is looked upon highly in Britain despite the fact that again i think price would have no trouble beating him .

Nevan Pajkic would be a good yard stick too and could be a commonwealth title defence or for a step up then Carlos Takam which would also be able to be a commonwealth defence

Think Perez would be the man to test his chin but carnt see it being made

Skelton being rated one place or so below Sexton doesn't make it a backwards step. Skelton has more power than Sexton and has more chance of beating Price.

If we are looking to see David Price turned around quickly I would not object to seeing Matt Skelton in with him. You can moan about how old he is and all that, but he is a former British and European Champion and World title challenger so he is proven at this level and is durable enough to give Price a few problems. As for Pajikic I agree that would be a good yardstick fight as well and I see Price doing a far better job of beating him than what Tyson Fury did. Price has a far superior defence and better footwork than Fury and would keep Pajikic at the end of his jab before stopping him I reckon.

What are you lot on? Skelton would be a terrible fight for him. He's a dirty boring old man. Give him a ranked European and forget the names of yesteryear like Skelton, Sprott, Audley and co. Waste of time.

I think he is ready to beat them all other than K2 of course, Helenius would be good, possibly Povetkin although not a chance in hell that fights happens. David Price is gifted with power and size to equal the brothers he just isn’t technically good enough to fight them.

Ideally, I'd like to see him in with Fury or Mitchell.

But more realistic potential opponents include Barrett, Takam, Ustinov, JC Gomez, Grant or Charr.

Those are good opponents for Price.

He shouldn't bother with domestic fighters apart from Chisora, Fury, and Haye; it's time to step up.

Price is unproven even at domestic level, wins against McDermott and Sexton are decent and nothing more.

He should stay active and make some sensible British title defences against the likes of Sprott, Skelton and Harrison (which I think would all be biggerr wins for him than McDermott or Sexton), before stepping up to a higher level.

Why should Price rush? He is only 28, he has plenty of time to step up when he is ready.

Fighting better opposition isn't rushing; imminently fighting world class opposition is rushing.

Currently, Skelton and Harrison are on the same level as Sexton and McDermott and I doubt that their perceived strengths would trouble Price; Harrison is too reluctant for his size and power to have an impact, while Skelton is too slow and hittable for his aggression to be effective and sustained. I don't, therefore, believe that fighting these domestic operators will ready Price for tougher challenges or prove anything to most people (especially given the fighters' ages). Sprott recently lasted rounds with Dimitrenko and Pulev, so he may do the same against Price, but he hasn't won in a year and a half and I don't see him offering much in return.

I believe that Price could learn more by taking a calculated step up against the type of opponents listed in the post I quoted; he probably beats them, but they are more likely to be competitive than Skelton, Harrison, and Sprott are. This competition will better prepare Price for increasingly tough opposition than fighting predictably overmatched opponents will. Besides learning more, I think that he will prove more and thus receive greater attention by successfully taking a step up than by successfully taking a step sideways.

I'm not opposed to another domestic opponent if Price want to return quickly, but apart from that scenario it's time to move forward.

Before i say anything i will confess that im not really a fan of the heavyweights in general but have managed to join the Price bandwagon a bit as he is looking the part.... so far.

How many fights is he at? 13 or 14?
In no other division would people be seriously talking about world title shots etc at this stage in a fighters career, personally in Price's shoes i would be making sensible choices and creeping up the rankings. Gain as much experience as possible against a variety of styles etc and aim to reach at least 22-25 fights before even considering Klitschkos.

He should wipe out the domestic scene over the 12-18 months by keeping active. There are still names about there that could test him in various ways.

ps.... when im mentioning people talking about world title shots i mean sky pundits.
