Whilst the Super Six was taking place many people were talking Bute down and saying that he hasn't faced anyone. Now he's taking on Carl Froch who is coming off a comprehensive loss against Andre Ward and all of a sudden he's a big threat.
Is it that we've come to realise that Bute is good after all or are we thinking that Carl is on the way down?

I hope I'm wrong, but I honestly believe that Bute will be the first man to stop Froch.

Bute wins by KO in the 10th for me.

Bute vs Andrade I gives me hope in this one , as Andrade is probably the best Bute has been in with , and he almost beat him , Froch is better than Andrade , i know its all ifs buts and maybes , but thats what gives me the major hope .

Froch to win by UD but a few Huge scares along the way , could end up a classic .

05/11/11 Glen Johnson - decision

Bute won a shut out on two cards which was the most dominant win against Johnson in years. Johnson was competitive in defeats against Froch, Cloud, Dawson, Tarver and Woods prior to that. He's also 43 and had lost 3 of his past 5 fights before taking on Bute, so a strong case can be made for it not being the best version of Johnson.

09/07/11 Jean-Paul Mendy - KO 4

Mendy was undefeated but his only prior opponent of note was Sakio Bika. Bika had Mendy in the first round but then got DQ'd for hitting him while he was down so leaves Mendy with no wins of significance.

19/03/11 Brian Magee - TKO 10

Magee has come up short every time he has faced decent opposition. Although taking a ten fight unbeaten streak into his bout against Bute he was mostly fighting those at British and European level.

15/10/10 Jesse Brinkley - KO 9

Brinkley had achieved little prior to fighting Bute and had never been in with a world level opponent. All this proves is that Bute is decent, but Peter Quillin stopped him in three six months after the Bute fight.

17/04/10 Edison Miranda - TKO 3

Miranda was once considered decent but is another fighter who has lost every time he came up against a world level fighter in his prime. He was 7-4 in his last 11 going in against Bute but had been stopped in two of those defeats (by Abraham and Pavlik) and his best wins were over an ageing Howard Eastman and Allan Green.

28/11/09 Librado Andrade - KO 4

Andrade should have won their first fight by stoppage and remains the last man to have caused Bute serious problems. It's fair to say that Bute may have improved since then, but Andrade had been shut out by Kessler a year before he almost beat Bute and since this defeat he has lost 2 of his 4 bouts, and none of them against particularly strong opposition.

To conclude, it's true that Bute has not been tested and has a resume which doesn't compare to that of Froch. What he has in his favour is that he will have less wear on his body and he looks to be big for the weight. Five of his last six fights have finished inside the distance so he has proven power, but it'll be interesting to see how he does when he's inevitably taken out of his comfort zone by Froch. It is hard to see Bute getting his own way and with the home crowd cheering, Carl will likely get the benefit of the doubt during the close rounds. It should be a great fight!
