Decent article just a very misleading title.

The writer didnt even see the fight.

When I read the headline I got so angry my first thought was to email the writer with a profanity laced dressing down.

I don't know the guy, mate. I'd prefer a pro sportsman to win it. To be honest I don't watch the show, or much on the beeb in general, so am probably not in a good position to offer an opinion, but that's never stopped me before.

It's 100% an olymipian this year, and most certainly a track and field athlete or possibly a diver, rower or cyclist, boxing boys have no chance, gold or not !

That's good figures. Anyone who hadn't seen Carl before will deffo want to see him again after that fight. Hell, even Bute's supporters would want to watch him - I think the last fights of Carl's career could be big money spinners.

I wonder if he will try and cash out and move up to 175, I don't know that he can beat Ward, he's just too slippery, but Kessler at 175, well, I think maybe Froch has improved enough to win that, he started a bit too slow against Mikkel last time out. Carl has always had a tendency to come out of the blocks slow, but on the rare ocassions he's come out throwing punches in bunches, he has looked great, had he allowed Bute time to get into the fight, who knows what might have happened.

Froch v Kessler at 175 - now that's a highly marketable fight - he may be handing the Dane a significant advantage doing so however, Kessler always looked big at the weight. With the extra strength from not making 168, he might be too strong for Froch, quick start or not, but it's a great fight nontheless, would he be able to tempt Kessler to a catchweight? I'm not so sure. Don't think Froch has the bargaining power to do so, but it would be a masterstroke if his management pulled that one off.

Kessler was only 169lb for his light-heavy debut.

The US fans all seem to be very big on Froch also. It will be interesting to hear whether Epix were happy with the numbers they did and if it will entice Showtime or HBO into picking up on Froch's next fight. It is quite incredible that both passed this one over, especially considering the coverage both men have already received from them.

why not bring kessler down to 168 - if kessler is both tight at the weight AND away from home, that is 2 great advantages for froch just there. and of course it'll be for a world title at 168. only drawback is that the IBF will have froch fighting some dull mandatories which could get in the way of big fights...after all froch has done, he deserves some easier fights mixed in with the big ones.

Why doesn't he have the bargaining power to do so? Froch has the IBF title, Kessler doesn't have any title (I'm not including the WBC Silver title as a genuine title). I'd be surprised if Kessler didn't want to do the fight at 168 lbs (assuming he can still make the weight). Does anybody know if he is definitely staying at 175 lbs or not? I thought he only moved up because he's still coming back from a lay off and doesn't want to go too hard on his body unless it's for a big fight. I feel Carl would definitely be giving up a big advantage in size and strength if he agreed for it to take place at 175 lbs but if he lost he'd still be able to come back down and defend his IBF title.

Froch/Kessler for IBF super middleweight title in September it looks like at either City Ground or Trent Fm Arena again.

Also, Kessler weighed in at 169.5 lbs for the Green fight.

I wasn't aware of the Kessler situation, tbh, i've not been following the sport that closely of late, due to getting a bit narked with boxing and the lack of fights I actually want to see. I assumed he had moved up as he was struggling to make weight.

How so? It's better than anything other than Premier League and Champions League football.

If you had a TV show that pulled in those figures it would be deemed a waste of money.

And by boxing standards, we all remember routine fights from the likes of Audley and Danny Williams and Amir Khan pulling in millions on terrestrial.

I wonder if it would have done even better if the first bell was around 2 hours earlier...I can't recall exactly what time it started but it was well after midnight. Superb figures though, credit to all that made it happen.
