Set for and August 25th and September 1st respectively. The middleweight division has been of of great potential over the last few years, with the emergence of several good champions and contenders. Now with these two fights, and the Chavez vs Lee fight in a couple weeks, we are finally seeing the division come alight. Two intriguing matchups that could produce excellent fights. Im going for Pirog and Geale in close decision wins. Who have you got?

Golovkin vs Pirog is an awesome match-up. These two and Martinez are the top three of the division IMO and given Martinez's age, I think the winner of this is set to become the dominant force at middleweight. Really hard to call, but I'd lean towards Golovkin.

If Sturm and Golovkin win, does that mean there will be two WBA 'Super' Champions?!

Sturm was obviously elevated to 'super' status so a second fee could be gathered. However, the 'super' status was originally supposed to be for unified champions, which Golovkin will be if he wins.

Both are excellent fights though. Geale was good against Sylvester but I don't think he has enough to win, Sturm looked something of his old self against Zbik and he has just enough power that will be enough to discourage Geale. It'll bring excitement just as Macklin v Sturm did though.

Golovkin will tear Pirog apart. 8)

Pirog looked awesome in beating Jacobs - really looked the business, since then he has looked ordinary. He seems like he needs motivation and big fights to achieve his potential.... well he has got one here. However, I also think its Golovkin.

Deserter - do you think Jacobs himself could become a world champion - he looked the business until he met Pirog.

Its a bit confusing alright, im not sure if the WBA have even thought how to go about a situation like that, but id say that they will keep Sturm as their super champ, since hes been one for several years. But you never know what the WBA will, going on their track record, we could end very well end up with two super champs.

There is a precedent in that they had three featherweight champs - Chris John as the Super Champ, Yuri Gamboa as the Unified Champ and Celestino Caballero as the normal champ.

Stu, I agree so much with your sentiments on Pirog that I could of written that paragraph myself. As for Jacobs, I just think he's too fragile to be world champ material. He's also barely fought since that Pirog defeat, which doesn't bode well. He's been out for well over a year - not sure if he's injured?

It's long overdue for Golovkin.

Whoever has been managing him has done an appaling job.

Let's see if WBA strip sturm for not fighting him by September and strip pirog for nit fighting hassan n jakim by September !

Golovkin v Pirog is a fantastic fight.

allegedly has shown the last couple of Golovkin knock overs - now he is finally in a real fight I hope they show this one..

Golovkin just might be the best fighter in the world - assuming that years of easy fights havent eroded his skills.

If these fights happen and then the Martinez-Chavez fight finally goes ahead that would be brilliant for the middleweight division.

I didn't realise he had Cancer - he has stated on twitter he is coming back on Oct 28th. He has been advised not to return and I can assume there will be a strong patch of medicals before he gets the clearance.

If you view his twitter and his pictures, it is a truly inspirational story if he comes back at all - the scar from his operation isn't pleasant.

I wish him all the best, had terrific talent and sounds like he has a champions heart.

Bit of a big statement there mate, what are you basing it on? many of his victories have been impressive and he has a lot of power but none of his opponents have been real top quality, and there are some flaws there that a skillful boxer could capitalize on. Good fighter though, and im seeing a close fight either way between him and pirog.
