Since hatton retiring there hasent really been a great ticket seller in the uk, when the m e n is full there's not an atmosphere like it, khan v Barrera was good but how much of the ticket sales were actually down to Amir, haye v chisora has sold a lot but would haye versus anyone else apart from chisora and the kitscho brothers sell out ?
A few fights that may pack out the m e n are, Mitchell v burns ( halfway for both supporters )
Price v fury ( both local )
Macklin v barker possibly, brook v khan/Gavin maybe ?
Froch v the winner of degale/groves 2 ?
Who else ?

I think in terms of British fights involving British fighters the above is it. I think people underestimate how hard it is to sell out arenas. Prime example is the Froch v Bute fight. The arena was a virtual sell out but there were still a handfull of tickets left on the day and that was for arguably the biggest fight of Froch's career in his hometown and Nottingham Arena only holds 9000 people. Boxing is a very expensive sport to attend and lots of people just cannot afford to go.

Haye-Harrison did, dont think Ruiz was a complete sell out. Hatton-Tsyzu, Tyson-Francis and the Haye-Audley farce are the only ones i can think of that have literally sold out. Khan has been disapointing there, it was half closed for Kotelnik too, but think he could do it for Mayweather. Like Barrera, the public would be coming to see the opponent, though. Price-Fury is one for the near future. DeGale-Groves didnt quite sell out The O2 but it wasnt far off.

Dunno mate, I was at Ruiz and it looked pretty full to me. I'd say it was a sell-out. Certainly a way on from fighting in a leisure centre in France.

No real way of telling is there? The TV and promoter are usually quite quick to use the word "sell-out" when talking about tickets, but short of counting empty seats, it's nigh-on impossible to know for sure.

The Katsidis/Burns card was supposedly a sell-out, but I saw plenty of seats empty.

I'm sure I saw one of the Khan headliners at the MEN described as a sell-out, but we all know that if they opened up the full allocation of tickets it would have only been 50% full at most.

22 to 23k i think it was sold out when Haye fought ruiz.

Looked like it was sold out vs Barrera. Not sure though, but that bill had Mac vs Ola (WBO interim) and Cook vs Marthinez (WBO Title). It was billed as World Championship Boxing, as nobody was completely sure Barrera was going to turn up.

There were odd single seats knocking about but i didnt see any proper gaps anywhere it was definatley a sell out and the full arena was open.

I honestly dont think anyone other than haye can

I reckon Froch/Kessler II could do it with some proper promotion.

Froch vs bute was not a sell out but you would not of guessed.

All-British fights always do good at the MEN.

No way could any of those other than the Haye fights sell out the full MEN.

I don't think boxing is as expensive as you say, a £40 ticket which turns into £45 after charges is very reasonable I think, it's no more then a football match, a good undercard can make it into a four hour show. I just think 1 or 2 shows per year isnt going to break the bank in the year 2012 !

i agree with you in principle jessi but the moajority of football fans will be supporting lower league clubs and i think my league 1 team asking £20 is alot so its essentiall 2 football matchs. and for me if i go much further than manchester i have to stay over and hotels hike prices up on fight nights so say another 60 there (for last froch fight i had to pay 110) so thats 100 before food and travel if you intend to follow the sport around

I agree it's not cheap, but I still maintain it's reasonable, hotels are an option, most football fans drive home the same day !

thats because most matches are done by 5pm not 12pm,1an even 3am in some big fights
